Lois, James Woods stole my Wallet

Ok for all you Family Guy® fans this should be easy for me to explain to you and if your not, than you’re a terrorist!! Na im just messing, but seriously now. If you recall there was an episode where Peter went to a Barry M. concert with Joe, Cleveland, and Quagmire, There he lost his wallet and later in the show he finds out that he is a victim of identity theft. Well even though it happened in a cartoon and was funny doesn’t make it funny in real life. Over ten MILLION people fall victim to this and rake up to $5 BILLION in debt. ANYONE is at risk even newborns. They can take out loans, drain your accounts, max out your credit cards and even deposit stolen checks! A lot of smart identity thieves just take a rubbing of your card and use it online, that way you won’t know about it until it’s too late! There are a few things you can do to avoid this, but you have to stay vigilant about it!

Ways to avoid identity thefts:
Hide your Social Security card
Do not give your Social Security number out online
Keep your wallet and/or purse close and in your site
Check your Credit report every 30 days for suspicious charges
If you feel like your identity has been taken, alert:
The Police.
Your bank.
All your credit card account managers.
Let the places you go the most know that if someone uses your card to alert the police.
And check your credit card account online every day or so.

Being a victim can ruin your credit and put you in massive debts that you or your family may never recover from. So please, for all the Peter Griffins out there save your name and save your wife from knowing that you have a second family.

Nice PSA (public service announcement).

I saw that episode of Family Guy too. Funny, but on a serious topic nonetheless.

But even infants are at risk of identity theft?! Now that is just nuts.
