She is Woman, He is Black... who cares?

Why can't people understand America is not as racist as we are portrayed to be? Look at our presidential candidates, an old white male, a rich white female, and a black man... all shouting pick me, pick me, but who will it be in the end?

This first statement I actually said as a comment to another blog, but it meets my point pretty well. I am getting so annoyed with this. The election shouldn't be about weather the candidates are black or white, male or female, Mexican, Chinese, or anything else. It's about the candidates with the best ideas, the ones that will actually be good for our country. Obviously Hillary, has been in the spotlight before because of Bill, but OBama has some amazing ideas, some which I admit are a little unrealistic, but he is hopeful and strong and has the appeal of being a younger candidate who knows what it's like to not grow up having everything, and can relate to more people in my age group. There are always going to be candidates that fall into the shadows of the race and go unnoticed, but that's not because they are young or old or black, it's because they didn't manage to get enough support, or weren't inspirational enough to the majority of people.

I could care less about what race or sex my president is. For all I care, he or she could be a transvestite, but if they are brave, have good ideas, could really change America for the better , and are willing to work hard for what is right, I would vote for them without question. I can't understand why people are so obsessed with the fact that we have someone other than rich white men at the top of the presidential race. It's about time if you ask me.

So when you go to the polls this year, don't worry about what a black president might do to America, or how a female president might handle things differently, choose the person that can set an example for our country, someone that is respectable and smart. Imagine that you are blind and don't know anything about the candidates other than their aspirations and ideas, only then can we really pick the right person for America.

Glad to hear there's still some color and gender blind people in America. :)
