I am in the long and brutal process of working on my own website. Until I make more money it will be through freewebs.com. It is also a start to an organization that I am trying to start as well. I haven't had time to do it, and have neglected to do it for the past 6 months. I'll just face the truth I procrastionate. I would LOVE any input,suggestions,and anything for the website. Please! input is very much appreciated.
The organization is called The World Change organization. The name will be changed if I find another organization with the same name. The goal of the website is to offer many different types of help/advice for anyone of all ages. I was so sick of going to multiple websites for information so I figured I would make one myself.
Many people have told me that my idea is a very stupid and bad one. They told me I can't change the way people are. Well maybe I can change people's perpectives, even if it is just one person. It is worth trying at least.
Here are the pages and subjects I am going to address.
>Animal cruelty and tips on what not to do if you can not take care of your animal and who to call if you see an animal being abused. (Lets just face it some people think it is ok to drop their animal in the woods)
>* inform people about animal cruelty
*Save our wildlife or help wildlife (Tips on how you can help)
* Help people understand the damaging effects of drugs/alcohol on the body and why you should not drink and drive
* Help people who are less fortunate
* Inform people of the risks and damaging effects of STDS/ safe sex practices
*Let people know there is hope in any situation
*Educate people about a wide variety of illnesses/diseases
* Tips to better the environment
* And try to help anyone as much as I can!!

* Food recalls (weekly)
I want to talk about a wide variety of topics. I am also going to be putting pictures of pets up for adoption in a wide variety of states. I know it will be a long process but it will be worth it. No one can save the world alone, but even changing one person's life can make a difference.
I am sure other ideas will pop into my head but I would love everyone's input. Do you think this site is a good idea? If you did not know me would these things interest you enough to go to the site? If it is what else could I add to this site? Thanks for any input. Comments are always appreciated.
People told you this was a dumb idea? I thought it sounded pretty cool. I'd think that if I just happened across that site, it would be interesting.
It would be interesting to invite "real" authors, or people who specialize in certain fields to write articles for that site. Heck, I'd like to help out, but I'm not a specialist in anything.
I think it's a good idea and you should keep going. The name sounds like it could be another organization, but the ideas are still good.

I'm not a specialist either. That would be cool to have people write different articles. I have an e-mail set up for the site also. I wanted the name to be a world in crisis but I didn't pick that one.
Yeah alot of people thought this was a very stupid idea. But of course I was sick of people always downing my ideas. I would not care at all if you wanted to help out that would be cool. It is going to take awhile though because it is alot of information to cover. Thanks for your input I appreciate it.

Well, I don't think it's a stupid idea; however, I think you will be spreading yourself too thin. You can't get a lot of information on one topic if you're focusing on 10 other topics as well, and it sounds like a helluva lot of work for a single person to try and tackle, on top of something that'll actually pay you. Plus, you'll have to worry about getting funding, which may mean advertising banners, which a lot of people don't like.

Hmmm, that's a good point. Perhaps she should focus on only several topics of importance?
And advertising banners aren't too bad when they're something that's less annoying than "do you want a better sex life" or something about insurance or car loans... if the banners were for sites that are more interesting--say, other public service sites that deal with important issues, that wouldn't be so bad. Even having banners about contests would be acceptable. Just have something that's a little more interesting than the average junk.

It's always good to start something small and expand from there.
I see your point. It is way too many topics to cover. A smarter thing to do would be to do some research on topics, then whatever topics I get the most research on display on the site. I already have the animal cruelty page almost finished besides editing.
The main money issues I was talking about was paying for the domain name. I should have expressed that better. It is only like $20 for 3 years but I do not want to waste that money and have a site that just sits there unviewed.
Another idea I had was to actually post links to sites like the World Wild life Fund and other places that help people and animals. I see your point and I am glad you pointed that out.

Good idea. You'll have to do loads of research and try to find reputable sources for your information. See if you can get some people to help you out with it, since it's a huge project. You may want to try to make some connections with some experts in those areas, whether they're college instructors, book authors, or someone else.

Making connections with experts is a great idea. Your role could be that of facilitator of information.
One thing that I find most helpful on resource-type sites is a bibliography of writing on a given subject. So, for example, if you write a piece on a disease and you haven't been able to get an expert to weigh in on your site, you could provide a book list or links to articles about the disease. It's a way of getting the expert's words on your page until you are able to make those connections with actual people.

I think it's a great idea! With putting so much information on one website, though, it might be WAY too difficult for you to keep up with it. Maybe you can make it easier on yourself by picking one topic - like just animal cruelty. Once the one takes off, then maybe create more websites dedicated to other topice you are interested in. Plus, when visitors see too much info on one page, they may get overwhelmed and look for a simpler site.
