First of all, before we make the announcement, we want to apologize for the delay in this announcement. We had some problems with the distribution of the scholarships and it took until now to resolve them.
This was a rather exciting contest, and we want to thank everyone for participating. We had a few people with an extraordinary number of reads and other points, and had some awesome participation. We also didn't have many conflicts between members, something our staff fully appreciates.
So, without further ado, here are your winners for the Spring 2008 Blogging for Progress contest!
Coming in first place, and winning the $1000 scholarship is none other than ediblewoman! With all the effort she put in to win it (losing sleep and in some ways alienating her partner), she certainly deserves the honor.
Next, winning a $500 scholarship, we have LeslieQ! Despite being absent for a month of the contest, she made it to finish in the top three.
Finally, our third scholarship is being given in honor of Kiota. Through her efforts in the first couple months in the contest, she placed second overall. Initially, we were going to donate the funds to her school, but opted instead to stay within the family. So, receiving another $500 scholarship, we have Bridge! She certainly made the effort to keep this site true to its mission and also deserves this honor.
Of course, no contest is complete without a list of honorable mentions. The following people made an impression on the faculty, and were very close to winning themselves. They deserve a round of applause for their efforts as well:
Kiota
DrifterDani6886
sawaboof
Poison_Ivy
Green Underbelly
TomorrowToday
Carrot
Congratulations once again to the winners, and thank you all once again for participating in this contest. Our next contest will begin in September, and will run into December. It is a much shorter contest, so we hope you can join us then and share your opinions with the world!
Note: Since it happens at the end of every contest, we want to make clear that the winners really did win. We've checked the points. If you feel the need to protest, though, because you believe you should have won instead, please keep in mind that the read points at the bottom of your posts are not accurate. Those are hits to your blog, and refreshing the page will increase this number. Our database checks unique hits, meaning that refreshing the page will not increase your read count. If you still believe you should have won, feel free to send mvenus929 a PM.

did you accidentally hit the escape key or something? I know that stops icon movement. They're all moving on my computer. ;-)

Congratulations! I can't think of three better people to have won the awards. And also to all the runner ups. I'm so honored to have been mentioned amongst such wonderful bloggers.
So when's the pizza party??
...You Know You Wanna...
Spooky. Does this mean if Kiota hadn't passed away, I wouldn't have made it on the list? Just spooky...
Anyway, I've already gotten rid of the goofy grin on my face when I saw the e-mail. I couldn't believe it! Though I definitely called that ediblewoman would win, I was sure sawaboof woulda made the second or third place spot. Just goes to show that you can't predict what'll happen during the contest. I seriously didn't think I had a chance with all the great competition on the site.
Oh, and another thing, I don't think you could have picked a better honorable mentions list. All of those people totally deserve to be on there!

If she hadn't died, I would not be surprised if she would have beaten ediblewoman out of first place. But yeah, as the points stand now, you wouldn't have made it as a winner.

Congratulations!!!
Excellent work on the contest and awesome blog posts! Everyone certainly does deserve a round of applause!
Thank you to all who have congratulated, and congratulations to the other winners and honorable mentions! Thank you all who read my blogs for your support of my blogging, and please enter the fall contest if you didn't place in this one. I will be here to read your stuff and throw in my two cents, free of charge.
And a BIG thank you to the ProU organization and faculty for giving us a chance to earn some college cash and have fun doing it. The contest was much more fun than writing directed essays.
