The clouds came rolling in one
Stormy day
To take the foothills' view away.
What I got instead
Has me seeing red.
The colors were most beautiful
Against the ashen grey.
It was so calming, I was
Glad to see a storm today.
As the thunder rolled above
My head, it made me think
Of yesteryear
And life, uncomplicated, and dear.
As it neared my time to dine
The storm had left the sun to shine.
I was sad to see it end,
Somehow, in the commotion I was taken by a portend.
