They wouldn't be "secret" jails if "secret" stuff wasn't going on in them. I mean, if nothing wrong was happening, then there would be no reason for them to be "secret". Right?!
I once asked the President of IMUN at my previous university this question:
Is the U.S. more dependent on the UN or is the UN more dependent on the U.S.?
She didn't answer, but allowed the group to voice their opinions. At the end of it all, based on the diversity of knowledge there, I came to this opinion:
The United States, in no way, is dependent on the UN. It does not NEED the UN for anything. It has a history of isolationism, and if forced to, could survive on its own. Of course, the United Nations and International Organizations, as well as other forms of internation cooperation, help the United States immensly, but it is no way dependent on such things.
On the other hand, the U.S. is a major part of the United Nations and may very well be the most important part, at the present time. U.N. soldiers uniforms, hats, boots, and guns are provided by the U.S. 25% of UN funding is from the United States and that is much more than any other country.
So, we can see why the United States gave the UN the finger when it came to the war on Iraq. The question now is why are they agreeing to close down their "secret" prisons? There must be something behind this. As we all know, the U.S. has never done anything that has not, in some way, been to their benefit.

The United States puts a massive amount into the U.N., not like they care though. The U.N. doesnt really work well because they rely on every nation to act responsibly, which doesnt happen. Not too mention they are hypocritical.
