We have all become victims of inflation in recent days. Prices are skyrocketing, and people are only losing jobs. The government has made their attempt to fix things, and we will see how that goes (not sure if I think it's viable).
Perhaps the most obvious skyrocket: gas. I drive an Impala, which gets decent gas mileage for the kind of car it is (25-30 mpg). It has a 15 gallon tank, and overtime, I have become accustomed to it costing me roughly $50 to fill up. Earlier this week, I bought gas and spent more than I ever have...$57! This amount of gas is going to last me roughly a week, and at that point I will have to give more to the oil companies.
What makes this whole situation ironic is the limit, at the gas station I went to, for VISA and Mastercard is $75. My car has a relatively small tank and it cost me almost $60. Add a few more gallons, and your at the limit...how does that make sense? Another ironic element is the oil companies continue to make record profits...Exxon Mobil made $14 billion (yes, with a B) in the first 3 months of this year!! Now tell me, if they really cared for their customers, would they be making such profits?
Add this to existing bills, food and living expenses, and other things, and the paycheck becomes nonexistent. And just how is anyone supposed to progress in a situation like that? Grueling hours at work are required in order for life to even remain safe and healthy. And really, at that point, it becomes unhealthy because of the stress that is put upon an individual.
How do we pull ourselves out of a situation like this?
