Screaming and hysteria rose as Abby screamed on top of her lungs. "HER SPIRIT!! GOODY OSBORN IS SENDING HER SPIRIT TO GET ME! AAHHHHH!!!!" Arther Miller's brilliant play called "The Crucible" was written during the Red Scare, or also know as McCarthyism. This play pointed out a different kind of racism but it still has the same concept. Blaming on others for their looks and/or their background.
I am Asian-American. I'm proud that my parents escaped the hard ships of the Vietnam War and came to America, hoping to start over. But there is one more thing that will continue to keep America from becoming that utopia from fables. Your skin color.
From white to black, from red to brown, even yellow and orange, your skin color defines you at a glance. People assume that I'm smart and I talk with a funny accent just because I'm Asian. It flatters and offends me in so many ways. Others just don't get how aggravating it is to even try to live up to your parents' standards. It's true when they say Asian-American's parents are strict. It's because our parents want us to live a better life then they do now. It's not about what your background is. What defines you is your personality.
For examples, homosexuals. They are often segregated from others because of their personal interests. Just because they fall in love with the same gender as themselves doesn't define them as a freak or a weirdo! Homosexuals are just as human as the rest of the whole wide world. They should have their own rights too. I'll admit right now, I'm democratic. I have so many friends who are gay and I support them. In reality, I envy them the most. They are so free as to speak their hearts out. Nothing really scares them. The feeling of acceptances is one of the most indescribable feelings you get.
So don't define some one by their skin color or what they wear or who they like. Wait. Get to know them. Then define them all you like.

I know what you mean because I am black. The best thing we can do is pray for each other.
I agree whole-heartedly, even with the homosexual remark (i'm christian). Anyways, my best freind is from China and she would love to read this!
Thank you so much for the comment. This world is too harsh. Even if we all lived in a black/white society (like an old movie) peopl would still define you.
Anime is simply my pastime. It entertains me and also a harsh reality check. Love yourself and soon you'll feel alive and free.
Things are far much better than they used to be, although, many hateful cancers take a long time to root out.
Especially since youngsters are becoming more smart than elders which are a bit mind stuck and carry lot’s of misconceptions around these important issues.
It is more a school and parental educational problem. On one side parents occasionally fail to build a strong enough self-esteem around their confused (hurt) kids, while on the other hand, educational programs which are provided in school SUCK! They are not effective. They might shine a bright light upon the subject but don’t go deep enough to give it meaning!
People use other people to vent their frustrations, when growing up in a nest were this is common practice, kids automatically copies this behavior. While doing so they put themselves on a path that is set for conflicts to arise.
Especially youngsters going trough their puberty get a piece of their own cake while spewing their frustration upon their surroundings. When they go out on a rant while being hatefully loaded, they might come across people that will mirror themselves.
The one that stays behind in trauma, will become even more frustrated and give even more meaning to the hateful seed inside.
It’s a vicious circle that is easy to break, but it needs attention before puberty kicks in, after puberty it takes way of a longer time for someone to heal from the cancer of hate he sometimes unwarily caries within his thoughts.
Not to mirror yourself is the best advise, consider yourself a helpful being while allowing sick individuals to use you in order to vent their frustration.
Spit it all out when they are out of sight and don’t keep it in your heart.
It might not always be easy, but if you keep it in you, this pain, hurt and confusion will make you to become just like them. It will affect your dreams and suck out the love you carry inside.
Be wise, please know many that vent, regret afterwards, even years later, when they have come to an understanding that they were wrong.
More and more understanding is coming to surface, but it takes time.
You just like anyone else are special, stay confident and spit it out (cry) when they are out of site!
One fine day, there won’t be anymore crying, talking about your kids,,,, ;-)
Take care,
True, schools don't really do anything to stop this kind of hatred. There is so many gangs at my high school. This era may be a WHOLE lot better then back then but it still consists of the same rage and segregation. And when I say segregation, I don't mean the way it was back then when colored folks could only use whatever is labeled colored. I mean society wise. People still classify you for your skin color. That has to end sooner or later. And at this rate, it seems to be later.

No good!
Can you give me more information about those.
How old are they?
Do they have a leader?
Do they have a dress code?
What kind of trouble do they create?
How many are there in a gang?
Why you fear them?
How does the school handle them?
Please add some more information if you care.
;-)
