The Human body is more Amazing than you thought! Sensation Part 1

The human body is amazing.Human Body Pushing the Limits highlights several wonderful things about the human body. I will discuss sensation and how the body works together to help us when we do not even know it.

Special touch sensors allows us to respond quickly to what is happening in our environment. The sensors are not the same on different parts of the body. For example we have 100 more sensors in our hands( Per square inch) than in the back of our leg.

Sensors for heat are most sensitive in our fingertips, nose, and elbows. The ability to have these sensations can ultimately save our lives.

When it is hot outside, even though we may not realise it, sensors and nerves work together to keep your body functioning properly.

A daughter and father have been stranded in the desert after their vechile breaks down. On a normal summer day it is 130 degrees. They are still alive after 8 days in this heat.

When our body reaches 98 degress a signal is sent to our brains to let the body know it needs to start finding other ways to cool down. Sweating is the most efficient way to cool the body. When we get hot our blood vessels bring blood and heat to the surface of our bodies. Sweat glands then take the water from the blood and release it as sweat. As our sweat evaporates into the air it makes our bodies cool. In a normal environment we produce nearly 2 pints of sweat a day.

Since our bodies are 75% water when applying yourself to very physical work we need water to replenish ourselves. During a normal situation, our organs need the water first, but there is still some left for cooling the body down. This is only if we keep the body fueled with liquid.

In the case of the father and daughter stranded in the desert, they have run out of water in 4 days. The lack of water is making them hallucinate. To ensure the organs get their share of water the brain makes a clever move. The brain signals sweating to stop, by passing the body's set temperature. When this happens sweat glands become dry.

Other parts of the body start to go into distress, so the nerves signal the heart, lungs, and kidneys to suck water back into them. The blood thickens and water is absorbed from the large intestines. Even the smallest thing such as your eyes start to dry out. It is because the fact that our body's brain and cooling system worked together that the body remained stable. The brain's final instinct tell the daughter and father to dig into the dirt and bury themselves to try and cool down. Finally help comes and they are saved.

Our body is more amazing than we ever thought possiable. I hope you enjoyed this! Rate it if you liked it.

You really do have great blogs. Our bodies are pretty smart. We should listen to them more often. I'm going to go get some water!

I always thought when you sweat that meant that your body was too hot. Instead it is a way to cool you down. Learn something new everyday. I use to watch dicovery channel too. But then all these series and reality shows started coming on.

My brother had 100% brain damage from a motorcycle accident and his brain is beginning to "rewire" and correct itself. They never thought he would wake up from his coma, but now he is walking and talking. It's amazing what the body can to do protect and heal itself.

That is cool and awesome. On part of this show a lady feel off a cliff and broke every bone in her body and she drug herself to safety where she would be found. That is really good about your brother though. I agree you should blog about that.
