Im only 22 years old and can see how todays' children and teens have change since I was teen. Perfect example, when I was in high school my school was considered as one of the best schools in the area, but just after I graduated everything change. An everyday life at high school was just plain joking, showing school pride, and trying to out do the next person in academics. We never had to worry about shootings, wild fights, and if you going be the one to get pick on or beat up that day. My younger brother attends the same high school I did and he has told me some strange events that have taken place in that specific school. He stated that kids don't do their work anymore, majority of the outstanding teachers have left due to violence taking place. The most extreme story he has told me was how a group of kids jump a boy and stomp on his head making his eye come hanging out. Later that day the young boy died to the beating. On the good side the kids were video tape however; the kids that were watching and video taping the scene didn't try to stop the fight. Majority of the students at the school claims to be in gangs such as, blood and crips. Just about all the fights are surround by gang on gang violence. Everytime we watch the news and see some young boy get shot, killed, or shot somebody attends my old school. My brother also stated that offen he fear going to school because of the violence, but since he play sports that his reputation makes him safe and cool with everybody. The sad part is for the other students that are not in sports and is just trying to get an education have to be the ones taken these crazy beatings.
Also, in the area I live which is Virginia; we have to watch what color we where in specific areas. This is due to the high ramount of gang population in the area. The police try to crack down on the rising amount of youth becoming involved in gangs, but it still the helping. I have to worry now about where I go, when I go, what color I have on before in go to a specific part of town, and etc. For several months I actually live next door to gang members. Just about everyday was shootings, gang bust, drug bust, or some type of drama dealing with them. They are not just in bad neiborhoods anymore. You can live in a upper middle class white neiborhood and gangs will still populate in that area and interupt your lovely home. Things in Virginia have gotten very bad. Although we have a fast growning number of gang members in my area. There are some areas that crack down and take out those gangs that try to come in that area and start stuff. However; I still have questions about these "gangs". How long will it take for gang members to migrate in the "safe" areas? Who to blame for this mess ( is it the parents, school, tv. etc.)? Can we stop this fast growning amount? Is this what I have to look forward to in my future, my brother future, or my kids future?

I think what would really help your blog entry is an easier-to-read format. On a webpage, it's a lot easier to read and follow along when paragraphs are separated by a space.
Who is to blame for gang violence? I wonder whether it's bad parenting or simply where these people grew up that caused them to join gangs.
