Hello everyone. We hope you all are ready for the end of the Spring Blogging for Progress Contest. Before we finish, though, we just wanted to make a few announcements.
First of all, if you joined after April 15th, you are not eligible for this semester's scholarship. Don't let that discourage you, though. This is the best time to get a headstart on all the people that will come for the Fall contest, and that headstart might just give you a chance at the scholarship.
Secondly, we are not going to announce the winner on June 30th. The contest ends on June 30th. At that point, we look at who is in contention for the scholarship, and we go through every single submission they've made on the site in the past semester. It's a long and difficult process, and we all hate it, but it's the fairest way to do things. Additionally, our tech person has to compile the database to add in read points for everyone, since those do make a huge difference in the long run.
Last semester, we announced the winners about two weeks after the end of the contest. However, we had also been doing reviews in the month leading up to the end of the contest, so we make no guarantee that the winners will be announced by July 15th. We do have lives, however meager they may be.
The winners will be notified by e-mail. Please note that if you are a winner, you will have to agree to certain terms, and send us all your information before you will be mailed your check. We won't give you your check if you don't provide us with all your information, so if you're counting on it right away, I suggest you get validating information together.
Please, please, please do not PM any of the faculty members to find out what place you are.
Oh, and since we send out all these e-mail reminders, now might be a good time to verify that the e-mail address you have listed on the site is the one you use most often. Or at least check it on a semi-regular basis.
Don't forget to check out our page on Facebook, or our profile on MySpace.

Can you give the amount of points the last winner had when they won? I am leaving for Washington DC soon and I was wondering if I should be worried about not getting the e-mail as I will be there a month

It won't matter for this contest, because the amount of points the winner has is based on overall participation. A better question would be...
Can you guys give the amount of points that the person in the lead has? Even a range would be grrrrrrreat!
By the way, that was a real question.

In all honesty, that wouldn't really help you guys out as the person that is in the top spot is over 10,000 points ahead of the next closest contender.

Wow. That is quite a gap. Yeah, I don't think I want to know how much the lead person has at this point. I'd just feel desperate to make up thousands of points when I don't have the time to do it.

truelife90 had nearly 50,000 points when all points were added in.
But this contest is a month longer than the last contest, so we don't really know where the point totals will end up.
