Dear Mr. Future President

I'm assuming that you're assuming that I care about you as a person. I don't, honestly. While my friends were out cavorting with Obama-nia or going McCain-insane, I was busy being disgusted. Oh yes.

Let me just make this clear.

I, for one, do not care about the fact that you are:

-Not a muslim (and for that matter, a muslim because I am tired of this WASP requisite trend thing going on. I had no idea that religion was so fashionable!)

-Black/White/Old/Young/Man/Woman (you have the perogative to choose the shade of lipstick you wear and it's not up to me to decide how black or white you are. Honestly, all you politicians look the same to me. But that's okay. That means I can dislike you all equally.)

-Ready for [ambiguous] change (I don't know what you're talking about and honestly, things can change for the worse. Please note this, Obama. We may be the ones we were waiting for but we can always royally screw things up too).

I could go on but I'm getting frustrated just writing this.

Let's be real. I thought this was a presidential race but it seems to be becoming more and more of a preening parade to me where the audience is to be entertained in the shallowest way possible. Go ahead and preen, Mcbama but I'm starting to feel like this entire election is an insult to my intelligence. Let's stop catering to the lowest common denominator and actually TALK about what you're going to do, should you be given the honor as to govern this country.

I agree. This race has been really weird. Busk v. Kerry was very obvious - these are the issues and this is how we will fix/change/deal-with them. This race has been all about who's the better person, but the most-qualified.

We're bogged down on energy policies--we haven't invested in the decentralization of energy production, what's called distributive generation, which is surely what we need in the future.

We're bogged down in a war, which, dollar for dollar is worse than the current financial institution bailout. It is not forward thinking to pour more and more money into Iraq.

The middle class is bogged down in this country--healthcare costs, food costs, and we're not much closer to lightening the load that we were eight years previous.

Frankly I'd love to see Obama screw things up as royally (or jesterly for that matter) as our current President. People say that all the time--"we don't want the next four to be like the last eight years of atrociousness"--but if we're talking issues, no president has prepared us worse for the future. Like I said, I'd love to see how a change, meaning preparing for the future and moving towards a sustainable society, could fail.

as it is the media, I think, that's dumbing down our political discourse.

Like for example, the debate yesterday yielded no clear winner in the eyes of the mainstream media, and thus, mis-labeled the debate as being forgettable. Just because it wasn't clear who won, it doesn't mean that what was said in the debate wasn't important.
