Hello everyone, I really wasn't sure what to post with this being my first post and everything, so I thought I would tell you about something I just can't stop thinking about. Darfur. I know some people just don't care, and I am definately not one of those people. It make me want to cry hearing what people are going through in Darfur. People are being tortured and killed, it is basically genocide. I just can't fathom that people could treat others that way. So I wanted to do something about this and try to help. I sent an email to my high school administrators asking them if some of my friends and I could set up some kind of fundraiser to help, and one of them told me they would talk to me about it later, and that was almost a month ago. How can they just write that off? Everyone is saying that our generation doesn't care and that we are just involved with ourselves, but how can we do things like this if the administrators, parents, and any other authority figure is preventing us from doing it. I don't understand we want to help, but they won't let us. I say we find a way to help anyways. What can you do to help the people in Darfur who are being tortured in ways you wouldn't even think of? Let me know your stand on this issue.

Genocide is completely horrible. It seems strange to me that it occurs time over time everywhere. People say that we should learn from our mistakes; we still haven't completely learned how to stop genocide from its cycle. Administration and authority often do write off students; it's almost as if they do not take students seriously. It is a fine thing to try to help the victims in Darfur. Starting a fundraiser would be an excellent way to help the victims. Even if the school won't help out much, creating a fundraiser for the local community may be quite helpful as well. I understand the difficulties of starting a fundraiser. It is quite hard when one is only a teenager or a student. In the end, it is possible, but only with tons of work!
