Okay, I have seen, oh, I don't know, about 50 blogs over the past few days that all seem to have the same complaint; people are cheating. There are allegations of people "trolling", people plagiarizing, and others just writing up garbage. For the past two or three days, these blogs have been taking over.
I'm not mad or upset or even irritated by this, but I know several people are. And I believe they have a good reason to be.
There is a link on the bottom right corner of every blog that says "Flag This Page". I think we should all begin using this. If you see a blog that is ridiculously nonprogressive or offensive, then please use this link. Copy the URL of the blog, click on the picture of the guy holding the flag, and a form comes up. There you can paste in the URL and write out your complaint on the blog in a discreet and respectful manner. Why bring more attention to the people than there needs to be. Putting up separate blogs about just how someone is being nonprogressive, rude, or cheating only serves to vent frustrations and invite further conflict. Plus, any new users are more apt to go and check that user out, not stay away. They are going to want to know what the fuss is about. But it won't get them disqualified; in fact I believe that you will risk disqualifying yourself. And then all your hard work will be wasted.
Using the flag will allow you to vent your frustrations as well, and will bring attention to the blog by those who can do something about it. We have buddy lists in which we can always contact each other and ask that each of our buddies also review the blogs in question and rather than commenting directly on the blog (inviting further remarks and argument) flag it.
This option was given to us as a way for us users to help the administration keep track of the many, many posts and comments going up on this site all the time. I know it's hard sometimes to just let go, but hey, if you have to take a deep breath and walk away for a minute so you can put together a complaint, isn't it worth it?

That is exactly why I felt the need to bring up the usage and availability of the flag link. I figured that if every one knew or understood about the flag, then the fiasco that was this weekend would have been minimized.
Of course, just because you flag something does not mean that it will be deleted from the system. All it will really do is bring administration's attention to that blog so they can read and determine whether it needs to be changed or deleted. But, it is still a good and effective way we can be sure the use of some of these hateful blogs are kept to a minimum.

thats why. because of pop up ads, and constant bombardment I think we kind of have this developed inate filter for stuf, especially based on design context. . So i'm looking for a flag link

Anyway, I agree with Nixxle. It took me forever when I first started here to even notice the little flag guy was there. We automatically see a picture in the sidebar and think it's an ad and ignore it! ha.

ooh I have an idea, why not have a scavenger hunt next time for the bonus points. It will help users learn they're options. they have to find and use certain features in the context of some programmed scavenger hunt. Or find and explain the use or something. Its not well-defined in my mind, but it could be useful.

I think that's an excellent idea! We could have to put on what page and where certain features are, listing URLs and etc.
