My accounting professor told us about these happenings this morning, and then I read about it in the newspaper. And it just makes me laugh.
And I quote from the USA TODAY:
"Kerry told a college crowd Monday; "You know education, if you make the most of it, and you study hard, and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
Bush said Kerry's comments were "insulting" and "shameful" to US troops. "The members of the United States military are plenty smart, and they are plenty brave, and the senator from Massachusetts owes them an apology," the president said Tuesday at a rally in Georgia."
WOW! hahaha.
I just read an article on how Kerry did apologize to the troops and to any families or associations with the military for that comment. And now the whole Democratic party is cringing because he may have just f-ed up a lot of hard work that has been put in over the years. Kerry was supposed to come here to Minnesota, and to Iowa, and be at rallys for support of senators, but those senators quickly cancelled the plans.
His aides are quickly trying to cover up Kerry's joke... saying that his script says that he was suppose to say "If you don't, you get stuck in a war in Iraq." You know, insult Bush instead of the troops.
It makes me laugh, because who says stuff like that in front of a CAMERA! And being a vetran himself! I mean, I think that his apology was rightfully due, because I know plenty of people who joined the military for why it's suppose to be there, to protect the nation. Not because they're dumb or can't get into college, that's just a reallly great side benefit.
I just think they're going at it like two little boys who can't get along on the playground.
