AP Classes vs Regular Classes

The world of AP (Advanced Placement) classes.  Thousands of students take these classes every year in the hopes that they will be able to get college credit for all of their hard work.  I know that the thought of college level work scares a lot of kids off, but AP classes are worth it.  You don't even have to take the test to be in the classes.  AP classes also teach you a lot about your interests and I suggest that everyone takes one to learn more about themselves.  I've learned that whenever I have to get up and read something to the class, that I can't do it and usually choke up, but that if I am talking about something that I know about really well, that I am not nervous or anything.  History Day for my AP U.S. History class taught me that last year with my Wizard of Oz project.

Take courage all of you juniors. Senior year is a lot easier than junior year. Oh, and don't worry about not taking all of the AP/weighted classes you took in your freshman and sophomore years. I took regular pre-calculus instead of the accelerated version because of all of the homework. You don't have to be a straight A student who has a 4.5 GPA to be able to do well in an AP class, so don't let that scare you out of trying one. I tried one AP class in my sophomore year and ended up dropping it after a semester because I didn't have the grade I wanted. The next year, I decided to take AP English and AP U.S. History classes. I was overwhelmed quite a bit in the history class and for quite a while was scared to death of my teacher, but I ended up learning more than I would have in a regular class. I ended up earning I think a B in there, but I wouldn't trade what I learned in that class for a hundred A's in a regular history class. As you can tell from my Wizard of Oz, Too Slow to Act, and Constitution Day blogs, I have learned a lot in the past year and a half in my AP U.S. History and AP Government and Politics Classes. I suggest that if you are finding your regular classes too easy, then to take it up a level and take an AP class. You really learn a lot and you will not be bored. I went from getting over 100% on all of my tests without studying to learning a lot more than I ever would anywhere else. It's really worth it.

I think that why some people take AP classes is because of its benefits because at my high school if you take AP US History, the teacher teaches you things that happened from like 1950 to today that they don't teach you in a regular US History class. Also, another reason why I made this assumption is because at my high school after you take most of the AP classes during your junior year, you'll get to take a Senior seminar class where sometimes during the classes, you get to eat snacks in the classroom and talk about other things (like cows, etc.).

i think in the end its juts worth it.
most people who are seniors now. just try to take it easy and choose slack classes but colleges look at that and would rather choose the kid who try their best all 4yrs of highschool.

AP classes teach you things that you dont learn in the regular classes and they also look good on transcripts. I'm learning things this year in my AP us history class than i learned ever. the teacher is really cool which also helps
