As the primary elections are winding down, Republican's nomination primarily locked up, and democrats still in a heated race, voting, politics, and the election has been on everyone's mind, either by choice or media consumption. So many people ignore the primaries, assuming only the party fanatics go out to vote to nominate their party's canidate. Many just simply wait around til the general election to vote, and others just don't vote at all, with a just "could care less" attitude. Many people, with the millions of Americans, assume that their vote just won't count and don't bother to get out to the polls to cast their ballot on election day. And an even larger number of people are simply not even registered ot vote in the first place. And, these people have every right to do this. We live in America. We live in a land of complete freedom and opportunity. We have freedom's above and beyond any country and are blessed beyond belief. We have the freedom to speak our minds, and let our voice be heard, but we also have the freedom to keep quite and let others be our voice. So we can be quite, we can say nothing. We have the freedom of complacancy and ignorance. We have the freedom to sit idley by, take the back seat, just watch clueslessly out the window at the road lines, yet complain once we reach our final destination. We have that freedom. But, our soldiers, the one's fighting now and those that have past, they didn't give up their lives so we could stay home on election day. They didn't shed their blood so we could become complacant and indifferent. They didn't sacrifice themselves to give us the freedom to complain after the fact while doing nothing to help the result, yet they did give us that freedom. And, American's have learned to use it so well.
People need to wake up and realize, there is a lot more to an election then a popularity contest. The people in office, the people that run our government are given a lot of power. The right people in office could create such a difference and can have such a huge impact on the future of our government, our country, and our world. We are are living history. Be a part of it. Make your voice heard. If you think your vote doesn't count, that is won't matter, think again. In 1845, Texas became a state by just one vote. And in 1923, just one vote gave Hitler leadership over the Nazi Party.
Go, make your vote heard. Get informed, get involved. Be part of the greatest system ever created. People in other countries would give anything to be able to vote. People in Iraq risked their lives on election day to be able to vote. We are free and encouraged to do it, yet somehow we have a hard time making it to the polls. Make it! There's no reason, no excuse good enough. Respect the freedom you are given and blessed with, the privledges you have, and use them. It's time America stops taking for granted their one vote, because its more than most people have!

It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them. Mark Twain
