As I drive down the street I notice all the houses watering their lawns. This compounds the problem that we are having in Florida, and across the U.S. As we watch the drought index grow ever higher and notice the days get hotter the water restrictions get increasingly harsher. But do these restrictions get inforced and does anyone care? If we continue on the path that are on we will be highly stressed for water over the next few years. Farms in the midwest can use thousands of gallons of water each minute. This over use causes the ogalala aquifer to be depleated at a rate faster than it can be recharged. This will lead to serious issues for all of America and all of he countries that we export food to. But our next door neighbor who is blatantly unaware of the seriousness of our water shortage continues to water their lawn (of grass that isn't even suited to be grown in the region in which I live). As youth in America we have the obligation to stand up for our right to have water in our future. If we allow this overuse to continue we will rely solely on desalination for our freshwater needs.

Big problem!
