The Other Side Part 2

Now that my position is clear on the issue. I want to take this to another level. I want to bring to light the mental issues and what a woman goes through after termination. *By age 45, 1 out of every 2.5 women in the United States has had at least one abortion! Yet we know little to nothing of what happens to these women afterwards.

*The mental side affects to list some of the most common are depression, repression and denial, guilt, suicide, and post abortion psychosis (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome). It can take up to ten years for this to set in, it is similar to PTSS because woman repress the memory then denie the fact that the abortion ever happened and cause stress and depression. the shock finally hits home. For some women suicide is the only way out, they feel they have no where to turn for help so they "help" themselves. Post-abortion suicide is two and a half times the rate of normal suicides, and nearly six times the rate of post-partum suicides.

Lets not forget the rumors that if a women has an abortion, she will soon develop cancer in some stage of her life, which in February of 2003, a group of doctors, in coalition with the National Cancer Institute, concluded that having an abortion does not increase the risk of a woman contracting any type of cancers. These rumors create even more stress for the women. The stress itself can make it difficult to even be intimate with your
partner(s) or anyone for that matter.

On the flip side some feel relieved afterwards and feel they learned valauble lessons.

Here are some sources:

and by the way the following source is very helpful to those who have had an abortion and need someone to talk to or some resoucrces to get you through this extremely tough time!

* - Stats quoted come from the Alan Guttmacher Institute website - http://www.agi-usa.org/ - for abortion stats, click on the link that says abortion at the top left.

* - The existence of this disorder is still in great debate among the psychological community as studies vary greatly in consistency and are often commissioned by Pro-Life parties

I hope that there are no responses of murderer to this post. This is meant as another perspective and an outreach to those who have been there and need some guidance.

I agree, I am pro-choice, and while the death of a fetus is no laughing matter, there are some circumstances where having the child is not a viable option, and nor is adoption. Adoption does not automatically mean that the child is put into a loving caring home.

nice post
