Taking the "bored" out of board games.

"Play America's favorite game as if it were invented today! Players can move with cool tokens that are iconic to life here and now, own popular destinations from across the United States, and buy and sell at values reflecting current market prices. Own it all to win the game! Includes bonus Monopoly Express game for fast-playing action."

It's Express Monopoly, with a board hardly bigger than the size of a compact disc. But with tv and the internet, who even plays board games anymore? Notice the emphasis on how this game is updated to now, it's cool and fast and hey, kids! It even reflects current market prices. Get it? Sadly, I'd guess they probably do.

As a nation, as a population, you'd like to think we're getting smarter, right? Me too, but are we really? In terms of intelligence, I'd agree that we're getting more and more 'book smart' but common sense appears to be on the decline. From where I'm standing we're losing communication skills at the very least, not to mention life skills. My generation overall seems to lack the ability to communicate with someone in a formal setting, face-to-face. Furthermore, most of our parents have tried to so hard to protect us and our self-esteem, that jobs are starting to reward their employees simply for doing their job right, and refraining from scolding them when they do something wrong. We are a generation with repercussions in all the wrong places.

I'm not saying I would like to experience my self-esteem being smushed into the ground, because that would probably hurt. However, I know way too many kids today who don't know how to be, or what it means to be, responsible because nobody holds them accountable. Our parents are trying so hard to give us a "proper" childhood, and by doing so they're delaying teaching us responsibility, among other values . So many of my generation seem to think that the world revolves around them, with their parents and teachers and now their employers supporting this theory. Personally, I barely even recognize the phrase "hard-earned money" these days, and it seems like it's becoming increasingly difficult to find examples of it when I look around.

The results are in! [At least, according to my local newspaper..]
Scrabble A
Scrabble Express B+

Sorry Express A

Monopoly Express D

The "world revolves around me syndrome" seems to be hitting a new high. I mean look at the shows we have on TV, "My Super Sweet Sixteen", in which all the kids seem to think the world revolves around them, and it will end if the party does not go off without a hitch, and that includes if you can't get your driver's license that very day, or something goes wrong with your face. I, for one, cannot watch the show.
But the common sense does seem to be declining as well. Look at how many meaningless warning labels have had to be added to products, because people can't figure out that you shouldn't iron your clothes while you're wearing them.
