frightening poll

Wow, the present poll asking about people being able to quit their jobs is pretty scary, though it is perfectly reflective of the current course of this country. I can't so many people would even think it depends on the circumstances. Man, this country slipped from individual freedom into considering the prospects of statism so quick. Can anybody really imagine an America where people are actually arrested/fined for quitting their job-under ANY circumstances? This really breaks my heart, to see how the idea of freedom is now doubted, in many cases, even considered an antiquated notion, as if modern times had made the idea of liberty obsolete. Right now, as we speak, there is a huge issue being deliberated in this country, one that started with woodrow wilson in our history and, even further back than that in world history. The merits of individual freedom and the role of government are at a crucial point right now, and there are just so many damn people out there leaning towards statist directions. I could go on and on about this, but it would require a book, not a little blog, but right now there are all sorts of people arguing for 'progressive' transformation and all that crap, and the problem is that, for the most part, the people who understand the moral virtues of the capitalist ideal (and it IS and ideal, not just a synonym for greed), tend to become businessmen or stock brokers, or the like, but christ, it's time for these thinkers to start matching the unchallenged, bleeding heart diatribes of socialist symapthisers with twisted 'ideals' and warped historical perspectives, because they're not just isolated wackos anymore, these people are moving into the majority.
