monkies and humans

me and my friend were talking after science class one day(where we were learning about evolution theories) and we decided theres no way we evolved from monkies. Ok, if a person has a baby with another person, doesnt it come out as a person? So if a monkey had a baby with another monkey wouldnt it come out as a monkey? i just doubt we came from monkies because it doesnt make any sense. How could two monkies make a human? I know theres alot of theories about how humans became, but the monkey theory went out the window for me. People can believe whatever they want, and if theres anyway anyone can tell me how two monkies can make a human id love to hear it!! If two monkies can make a human then why cant two dogs make a horse? I dont know i just dont get it and i dont think its possible. I dont know how we got put here and i dont think anyone honestly does. that was just bothering me though and i wanted to put it out there. We as a society can't honestly say we know anything! Just because some person said the sky was blue we all assume its blue because thats what we were thought. How do we know that blue is blue, it could be green or yellow but we know it as blue so we assume thats right. How do we know were humans? We could really be birds. my point is i dont get how just because someone tells us something is what they say it is then thats what it becomes.

Are you kidding me?

The earliest horses were only a couple feet doll and had toes. Two of those didn't pop out a 15-hand-high horse with solid hooves...

Evolution isn't instantaneous. If you think that, you should pay more attention in biology. It takes thousands, even millions of years.

so explain to me how two monkies made a human but yet there still monkies today? i know about evolution an i know things change to adapt to their surrounding but if monkies changed to humans then why are there still monkies around? if they changed to humans to adapt then their wouldnt be any of what we know as monkies.

First of all two monkeys didn't make a human. Over immense stretches of time mutations in the gene pool of a certain specie of primate wound up making creatures more humanoid. Then that specie went through the same process. And so on and so forth.
That specie no longer exists. Other primates, evolved from various common ancestors still do exist.

The theory of evolution involves monkeys gradually adapting to life on Earth. Meaning, if I lived in Africa and had thick long hair, I might adapt by cutting my hair. Except in the theory of evolution, it happened naturally, in order to survive. Have you ever heard of survival of the fittest? It makes sense if you research it further more, in my high school biology class they briefly mentioned it and confused me. This website is great in explaining it in detail. Also, If you're a Christian, your beliefs completely oppose the theory of evolution
Hope this helped!

I think I lost brain cells during this read. It's swell to question things. That's what peer-reviewed science is all about. But it seems like you're almost questioning things like a teenager would break societal rules for the elementary feeling of risk.

And that's the best analogy I can come up with on a friday. Poor me.

Sigh ... is this what science education has come to in our schools?

The skull labelled A is from a modern chimpanzee. The skull labelled N is from a modern human. The rest are arranged in chronological order of their dating. Where do "Ape" skulls end and human ones begin? What criteria did you use to make your decision? If you couldn't tell, then what is the problem with humans evolving from apes?

The reason there are still monkeys around is because monkeys live in a different environment than we do and they are better adapted for that environment than we are. They can't compete with us in our environment and we can't compete with them in theirs. Don't believe it? Then you try to make a living climbing in trees and eating fruit.

Cheers,

DB

Well done. But I'm still a big fan of this illustration.

well as i still believe that humans didnt evolve from monkies you do have good points. and yes i do know about the survival of the fittest and only the most fit survive!! What i dont get though and some did try to explain it in a previous comment is how could we evolve from monkies i mean humans have been around for a long time, yet we aren't really changing. We all still look pretty much the same. you say monkies changed over time to better fit their surroundings ok that might work, but then think if monkies are changing then why haven't humans really changed. i know about cavemen or the theory of cavemen atleast, which by the way no one can really prove because no one that was there(if anyone was) is still alive. Thats what i dont get No one was there so how do we really know we came from monkies? Everything is able to be questioned unless you were there and lived through it then you can't know for sure. yeah stories an myths and theories get passed down but they could be just that a STORY.

We are definitely different from our ancestors, but only in very minor ways. Why minor? There is no pressing need for us to adapt. We have the ability to adapt the environment to us instead.

The easiest way to grasp a visual idea of what evolution contains is to visit countries which some time or another were colonized.

After independence, in many cases you will find small groups of people that remain living inside these countries for various reasons. Some refer to them as ex-pats.

It is rare ex-pats mix up with locals, therefore it is striking to see they all look alike, like if they were somehow cloned. This effect is caused by inbreed and quite freaky too!

On the other hand, one might regardless of location come across individuals which can’t be tagged!

Over the years during my travels I have been fortunate to come across and met people which bloodlines had been subjected to mixtures (potpourri) one can only dream of, making them to look like prototypes of future humanoids while already reflecting amazing beauty of what could become.

We still have a long way to go!

This might help you to picture an idea of why you don’t recall your own birth.
