I’m sure most people have heard about the “pregnancy pact” made by at least 17 girls this past school year… And how some of the suspected fathers are over 18, and may be pressed with statutory rape.
Okay, stuff like this ticks me off beyond belief. The girls aren’t the victims. Sure, it’s not right for the guys to have just slept with any random chick, but come on, it’s not like we’re required to show ID to have sex, nor do we have our birthdates tattooed on our genitals. Makeup and revealing clothing does wonders. Besides, not everyone looks the age that they are. Heck, I’m at the opposite end of the spectrum – I can easily pass for 12 or 13, despite the fact that I have a large chest. The only reason I can do that is that the girls buy C-cup bras and stuff them (or, in the rare case, can fill them out), and most people think I’m one of those middle schoolers.
What’s sick is that those girls usually can pass for a sophomore or junior, at least… And I’m always getting called on being younger (on the last day of school, I was stopped at the mall and asked why I wasn’t in school – when I showed my school and state IDs, the security officer was surprised that I was old enough to be in high school!).
I don’t think it’s all the guys’ faults. How would they know that the women they think they’re sleeping with are no more than children? Just about the only way we can seriously stop statutory rape is doing one of the above things I mentioned – either requiring proper ID to be shown before any form of sex happens, or tattooing babies with their birthdates. Even then, it’s not hard to get fake IDs, nor is it hard to just have the lights off.
There will always be those girls who look older than they really are. In cases like this, where the girls were obviously plotting, I don’t think that the guys should be charged with statutory rape. Call me crazy, call me a sick child, but I’ve seen girls trap guys in similar ways and not been charged because the guy was within 2 years (and I’ve seen a guy trap a girl, too).

i have to agree with you. When a girl consents to sex, calling it any form of rape is just... excessive to me. Contrary to popular belief (I use that phrase a lot, hmm), these girls made the decision... why punish only the adults involved when these kids also knew better?

I second Fallon's thoughts. They really shouldn't be able to press charges against the guys involved, and if they do take the guys to court I hope our legal system is still working well enough to throw this case out. If its consentual at the time it happens, the girl shouldn't be able to change her mind and call it rape afterwards.
Do you think the guys have any kind of shot at raising a case against the girls? These teenagers purposely seduced men with the goal of getting pregnant, but I guess its the guy's fault for not wrapping their packages before getting it on.

Yup, I'm a music nerd.
I'm an idiot. What happened? I've somehow missed this story.

Basically, a bunch of high school girls made a "pact" to get pregnant. Everyone's panicking. Really, why were they given the media attention in the first place?
*sigh*

I have my comments set funny, so Fallon's video on the poll about this was way at the bottom of the page, and I missed it first go round. What a stupid idea, though! Goofy kids. Pregnancy is not something to screw around with. They'd better get a whole lot less selfish, fast (in about nine months)!
