and so that brings me to beg the question, why is dueling illegal? I should have the right to challenge someone to a match to the death , and if they accept that match on their own accord then where in lies the problem of this taking place? this is far more honorable then fighting chickens or dogs who in no way can choose the fate they have been allotted to by their masters, this is the one form of combat where people can consent to.
I in no way want to duel someone to the death, I have no ill will towards another person that would drive me to lethal combat in any form weather with guns or swords or bare hands... but it is something that is illegal and in my mind really shouldn't be illegal. I would ask that we all could write our state legislator and tell them that this law is silly. I'm tired of having freedoms taken from me that even tho I don't choose to use that the choice has been made for me, we need to stand up and let freedom ring!
isn't civilized. if i were to duel someone. it would be a dawn in the snow covered mountains, or at midnight on a windswept beach with a full moon. or with guns. or one video games. not in real life. i mean why not just duke it out. have a fistfight or something? why go straight to murder?

first let me begin by complementing you on your good hypothetical duel ideas,
and the point of government isn't to force us to being civilized, if that was a criteria I would argue that Nascar be more illegal then Dueling and the like. we are going to become what we are to become, and we become it because we choose it not because we were given it. so for that I would argue that fat people are not a trademark of a refined civilization at its zenith but I by no means would encourage making fast food illegal.
One issue is that it is difficult to prove whether or not one has fully consented to a duel. Would your situation have "duel contracts" or something similar? Would the participants be tested for sanity, or do we just let them get at it?
