underpaid and unappreciated??????

The labor workers in our society are very unappreciated; they have to do the most gruesome jobs available and are not respected and very underpaid. For example the gardeners, slaughters and meatpackers, and pest control. Even though many are illegal immigrants they are still human beings. has anyone tried mowing the lawn in the summer, trimming the hedges and bushes, or pulling weeds. it is no easy task to accomplish, those grueling burning hours in the sun, society should be more appreciative of these people and give them a little respect instead of talking trash about them. Even though it does not take a lot of brain power to accomplish these jobs it is lots of strain on the human body. As a real life example I prefer tutoring a student who has a learning disability, over standing out in the heat and doing yard work. Even though it may be very stressful at times tutoring this individual when I compare it to the rigorousness of doing the outdoor work it is almost incomparable. Do you people think that the people that do these difficult jobs should be a little more respected in society and earn more pay than minimum wage?

Hm. No. I don't think they deserve more than what they are getting paid. Now, I'm not saying this without perspective. I have been the person pulling the weeds, mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges and cleaning the refuse of society. I've done all that before. Guess what? I GOT SICK OF IT. So I improved myself, gained some skills, and nailed down a sales job that pays so much more than the manual labor.

True, they are underappreciated. But the work they do isn't irreplaceable. It might inconvenience people to do their own clean up work, but it wouldn't handicap them.

Yes I think these people are under paid. Im not saying this as a biast person because I have been both the person under the sun all day and the person behind the desk doing customer service. And society needs these people to function and be civil. Their jobs are important too. If everyone of these laborers decided to go do a job that involved mental work instead of physical work, there would be mass chaos. No lawns would be mowed, factories would not be running. They are taken for granted now. You shoul watch the TV show Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel. It is about the people who have jobs that make life civil for the rest of us and is very interesting.
