Panic Stricken!

Most of my life, I have lived with some sort of weirdness. But, up until now, I've never been able to put a finger on it. I have trouble trying to shut my mind off, and yes, I know its a 'girl' thing. However, about 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with panic disorder. I couldn't sleep at night because I was convinced that North Korea was going to nuke me or that a plane was going to crash into my house. These are ridiculous fears, I know. Thankfully, I have been getting help and little things don't seem to throw me off as much.

Lately, I've noticed that I have been embarressed to talk about my condition because I am convinced that everyone around me will think I'm lying or just being obnoxious. I would never speak about anything personal unless someone asked, that's my own personal policy. Yet, I believe I know where this unruly fear has come from: attention-whores. A new strain of people that go around complaining, talking about how horrible their lives are, searching for sympathy. I guess this came with the "emo-generation". I personally try not to fit into or distinguish stereotypes. But, now I feel like when I truly need help, nobody wants to listen because they've heard it a million times already. Has anybody else noticed this trend?

Attention whoring has always occurred. The only difference is the way in which it is done. As long as you don't bitch constantly, you should be okay. Solve your own problems as much as you can, but don't be afraid to vent to friends. It helps.

Thanks for your kind words. Maybe, I'm just crazy. Oh wait... Yeah, I'm a huge self-help person but its nice to know that their are others out there who can relate. Unfortunately, all I find are people who have no idea what I'm talking about.

Hey, don't feel bad. I stumbled upon a Maury Povich video on Youtube that was of a girl scared of pickles. they also had someone that was scared of mustard and chickens. It was pretty strange.
