Are high schoolers more accepting of gays?

So I went out to lunch with my girlfriend's little sister the other day. She is 14 and doesn't know we're dating because we're afraid that she will accidentally spread the word to the rest of her family, which is Xcore Christian, and therefore, antigay. Anyway, as anyone who is gay and not out can definitely relate to, I was "feeling her out." You know, dropping little pro-gay comments, talking about gay stuff and seeing if any flash of "blech" crosses her face.

Good news, we're rocking a pro-gay chica!

She was talking about some girl who has a crush on her and how a lot of kids at her school are bi and that no one cares. That blew my mind! I remember just 5 years ago, if a kid came out as bi, he/she would get tormented for it. The fact that this is starting to change really makes me hopeful!

Granted, the recent death of Lawrence King is an obvious counter argument to this. But to see that not all places are like this is something that needs to be noted. Knowing that even in small town Wisconsin, the heart of midwest Christianity, you can be gay and not be immediately ridiculed is good news, and I'm going to celebrate!

so.......woo!

At my school, a person's sexuality isn't such a big deal. It's a very open and comfortable enviornment. I'm glad because some of my best friends are out and very happy. I think they would be miserable and not nearly as much fun to be around if they were trying to be someone their not.

I love my peoples. Regardless if you're gay, bi, metro, transgender. Everybody is accepted in my book. Even if you're straight or gay, just respect me and don't try to violate me. If coming out makes you happy, then I'm happy DOING THE DAMN THING!!

I'm glad more people are being supportive of such relationships. But there needs to be some moderation of it. Who knows how this will change future generations.

I think it really depends on the people you're around. A lot of homophobic individuals pick on homosexuals because it makes them feel better (people need to grow up). But when they're outnumbered...they don't even have to be outnumbered actually; when theres more than one person there to counter their arguments or beliefs, they tend to shut up.
