I love kids, too young to have my own, but I love all the young ones in my family and all the ones I babysit.
The other day I was babysitting and it was surprisingly easy. I couldn't figure out why. They weren't fighting. They weren't hungry. They weren't playing.... they were glued in front of the tv. I was absolutely disgusted. The shows they were watching weren't even age appropriate. In my opinion all the shows on Nickelodeon aren't suitable for kids under the age of 12. Honestly, Zoey 101, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody..etc... they don't offer any sort of moral value. They teach kids nothing and are a waste of time.
I asked the girls if they wanted to draw.... "No."
Do you want to play outside?... "No."
Do you wanna play dress-up?... "No."
Do you wanna play house?...."The tv show?" No. "No."
Come on girls, where's your imaginations?.... "What's Imagination?"
--shock--
They don't need to imagine anything anymore. If they want it, it's given to them by mommy and daddy who are eager and willing to please their kids, shut them up, and give them what they want. It's ridiculous. When I was a kid I loved to play house and dress up and go outside. These girls just wanted to watch their pregnant idol on tv whore around with ugly boys... It was a shame.
I can't even watch Nickelodeon anymore. The shows blow. They aren't interesting at all.. I miss the good shows of the early 90s that made you think. Like Doug, AH! Real Monsters, The Rugrats, CatDog, Angry Beavers, Invader Zim, Rocko's Modern Life.... man. Those were the days.
When I have kids,
they're going to have imaginations.
They're going to want to play outside, play dress-up and house...
No doubt.
They'll have a chance to be kids,
they'll have a childhood.

I'm not going to lie to you, I had the TV childhood, and I hated it. It wasn't until I was old enough to babysit that I realized something was wrong. with the way I had grown up. Good for you for wanting to give your kids a brain full of possibilities
