Broad prosperity. Effective government. Personal freedom. Better future.
All of these suggested topics seem interlinked to me. It seems as if humanity solves one of these problems, it should be able to find a way to solve the others and advance as a species. Over the last century humanity has advanced exponentially and it has brought on many changes in priorities. However, the main goals of the human race is, and always has been, to broaden prosperity, create an effective government, enable more personal freedoms, and provide a better future for the children.
I will admit that I had to look up the word “prosperity” because I wasn’t quite sure what it meant. I remembered the Knights of Prosperity as being people who worked toward financial gain. I also remembered Spock doing that weird hand thing and saying “live long and prosper”. This indicated to me that being prosperous meant to reproduce. Either way, humanity has hoped for it since its existence. In order to prosper, humans have to live long enough to achieve it and work together toward it, otherwise it will never come. In the act of human prosperity we will expand obviously. If everyone has wealth and the ability to reproduce, the new generations will need space to live. If there are enough people and enough influence, these new generations will be able to create a solution to the potential problem of over prosperity. Our generation will not be able to solve this problem, but with our influence our children will be able to complete the task of expanding the living area of humanity. Expanding to livable places outside earth’s atmosphere will be the only sure way to prevent overpopulation. In order to achieve this, the world needs to put more funding and encouragement into its space programs than it has in the past few years. The space programs also need to get off their asses and start on making man-holding spacecraft that can travel outside our solar system and explore the galaxy. This would solve the problem of over population as well as enable humanity to broaden prosperity further than it has ever been believed to become.
Effective government! Now that’s a blog topic that has definitely been hit on many times. However, I believe that my view of an effective government is a little bit different than most people’s. The U.S. government, especially lately, has been viewed skeptically by its citizens. In order to have an effective government, more people have to agree with what is happening. It would seem ignorant of me to say that everyone should agree on the decisions of the government, but it would be nice to try. We must get rid of the two parties that are tearing the nation apart and attempt to start a new government in which a person who is accepted by all people can rule. That is only the first step. Eventually humanity should erase the borders and become a United World. This will be very difficult to achieve, some would say it is impossible. For this to work one nation cannot attempt to rise above the rest and unite the rest of the world under itself. We have to bring every nation to an agreement so that they will follow the laws laid down by a world government.
It seems to me that the issue of personal freedom has been argued over many times. We are a free country, but we still have to follow laws. If there were no laws, there would be complete chaos. Everyone knows that. So in order to stop the constant argument over where personal freedom no longer applies and where we are free to express ourselves we need to stop saying that this is a free country. People are getting the wrong idea. The only reason why our country is free is because the U.K. no longer rules over us. We may be free from Britain, but we are not above our own controlling government.
If we try to change all of these things for the better, we will be able to provide a better future for our children, and perhaps ourselves, to live in.

I agree with your comments about being a free country. I hate it when people who are in high school (or even college) complain about not being able to talk about everything in school. Sure, we have freedom of speech, but we sometimes have to sacrifice those freedoms in order to take part in something else, such as free education.
