Since the Sept. 11 attacks the FBI has taken it upon themselves to secure the nation. The only thing is that their tactics arent constitutional.
This week for the third time in three years FBI Director Robert Mueller had to answer to the Justice department, in the form of a Senate Judiciary Committee(I.E. Roger Clemmons). There he was questioned on why the FBI "improperly sought personal data". To me there is no question. In the past 7 years the federal government, aka the Bush Administration has decided that the constitution can be bipassed WITHOUT A FEDERAL JUDGES ruling, all in the name of national security.
Honestly, I feel less secure than ever. The FBI from 2003 to 2005 "demanded personal data on people from banks, telephone and Internet providers and credit bureaus without official authorization." They claim that this is soley limited to potential terrorist suspects, but who is to stop the FBI from using their tactics on unsuspecting US citizens? Thier judgement is already clearly questionable.
Director Mueller claims that all improper inquieries took place prior to THEIR new REFORM which was inacted to prevent these types of future occurances. IT usually isnt smart to allow an organization to REFOM itself. Especially when their wrong-doings violate US citizen civil liberties.
However there is more to the story. The federal governments wire-tapping program has been temorarily disabled due to NON-PAYMENT to their tellecommunications providers. Which are ironically VERIZON, ATT, SPRINT, AND CINGULAR. The tellecommunications companies claim that the US govt. has yet to pay for the procurement of call records, payment history as well as direct tapping into cell phones.
This is why Bush is calling for Congress to extend Patriot Act funding. To me this is the beggining of a POLICE STATE. In which the GOVERNMENT convinces citizens that they cannot secure themselves, which is the point of THE SECOND AMENDMENT. Instead, the government will extend protection. THE COST.
OUR FREEDOM!

Here is the wonderful story of AT & T and it's little room. A room designed with machinery to intercept and record EVERY phone conversation through it's system, with the intent purpose of disclosing it to the government. Unwarranted wiretaps. I don't care what the excuse is. National security my A$$.
