I have quite a conundrum to present to you guys. I used to love to read, but I haven't been reading as much lately. I have gotten into the horrific pattern of starting a book and deciding to quit half-way through. I love all different types of literature: fiction and non-fiction, romance and realism, even self-help books! It just seems that lately I can't find a book that sparks my interest. I used to get so into a book that I couldn't put it down for anything, even to eat! Many of my books have drips and drops and pages that are completely covered in ketchup stains because I could not stop reading while eating. Now the only time I finish a book is when I'm required to for one of my classes, or if my friend lends it to me and I feel bad for never finishing it and giving it back. I'm looking for a book that will re-spark my love for reading, so... could someone please make a suggestion for a good book, one that's worth finishing? I would love to find a book that I will pick up and never ever want to put down again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Help me find my next greatly loved book!

"Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn - you'll never think the same way about the world again.
""Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin - you'll be inspired by the true story.
I love that you recommended this book because it'll change the way I think about the world! That makes me very excited to read it!
It will. You should let me know what you think of it when you read it.
I just read Ishmael and you were completely and totally right on the money! I loved that book and I could not stop reading it. It was an amazing view of "civilization" and I thank you for suggesting it.
The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms. Both by Ernest Hemmingway, and amazing.
read my blogs!

Taste in books is so subjective; it would help if we know what you like. I can probably recommend a laundry list for you! I love books!

What kinds of books do i like...well I really liked the Twilight series, but let's face it, most girls do. I like reading biographies and history books quite a bit. I also like books by Michael Crichton, Meg Cabot, and especially Stephen King. Bag of Bones is probably my current favorite book. Also, I usually like classic books too, excluding Jane Eyre. But any suggestions are helpful, because I realy do like pretty much all books in all genres.
Try F Paul Wilson. I love his Repairman Jack series (starts with The Tomb), and I've read several others works of his. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are pretty good, too.

I would definitely recommend anything by Dean Koontz...I have over 20 of his books and I've yet to find one I don't like...my favorites would probably be The Face and the Odd Thomas trilogy
"Everything is Illuminated" by Jonothan Safran Foer - actually was sad to see it end. I also love "Wicked" (Gregory Maguire) and "Life of Pi" (Yann Martel). If you really like history, "The Struggle for Black Equality" (Harvard Sitkoff) is good - the first chapter is rough, but after that it's really good. "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson you can probably read for 3-4 hours straight and get through it in one sitting, without even knowing that the world is continuing without you. It's fantastic. But if you're looking for a different sort of fiction, "Water for Elephants" (Sara Gruen) is pretty good. I read that all the way from Anchorage to Minneapolis, overnight. Should have slept. Oh well...

Have you read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Foer? I liked that one even better! And Water for Elephants is a good read. My partner and I both tore through it. If you liked that one, you may also like Geek Love by I don't remember whom. But it's good. Weird, but good. Another god one is Black Swan Green. Can't remember who wrote that either.

No I haven't read Foer's other one. I should get to that...
Oh gosh, all these book blogs... I suppose I should actually go read something other than ProgressiveU! ;)

I have heard nothing but good things about those books, especially "The Life of Pi." My math teacher said she loved it. A math teacher loving Pi...go figure...
My youngest sister read that... she loved it. It's pretty much her favorite book!
It's not actually about the number Pi. Pi is the nickname of the hero.

Right. The book about Pi is called "The History of Pi."
Oh i realize that. I just found a little bit of...irony is the best word I can think of. Besides that, my math teacher really, really liked the number Pi....kind of strange actually.
Pi... yeah, I don't know what it is about it. I know some people who really like the number, too. A friend has a bunch of it memorized... it's interesting.
Ok, I have posted this book on almost anything on this site you can find about people asking for book recomendations. I even mentioned it to a prior commenter vern, and I am still waiting for her to tell me she loved it. I have even a blog about it because it is the only book anyone should ever HAVE to read.
The book is titled "God's debris" and it is labled as a thought experiment. This book will completly open your mind. It is possibly one of the biggest outside influences of my life. Every chapter is like an Epiphany.
Now this is the best part, it's free. I bought my copy before looking online, but they have created a PDF of the whole book and posted it online for you to download or print off right from the sight. In fact I will post the link straight to the PDF file so you don't have to do anything but read or print off the 144 page(includes title and coverpage and authors notes, everything) book.

Now please read it. I swear you will never regret it and will thank me for just dropping it into your lap. You dont have to go to the store or hunt it down it is right there, read it.
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
It gives a pretty graphic account of the old foot binding ritual, but beyond that, it's a really good story!

I would really recommend "Being There" by Jersey Kozinski. It's a great portrayal of naivety and what happens when someone is thrown into the real world. The movie's pretty good too.
