I just watched the documentary the Invisible Children the other day and I broke down in tears. For all who havent heard about this, for years children in Africa have been stolen out of their beds in the middle of the night by a group called "The Rebels" and turned into brainwashed soldiers. Kids as young as five, are carrying guns and trained to kill. The processes in turning this children into these robot killers is absolutely horrifying. Basically what they do is they line them up, and the kill one of them right in front of their eyes in order to show them what they will do if they try to escape. Only now have we begun to realize what tragedies are happening in Africa. We've begun to help and make a somewhat safe environment for their children but what about the rest of the world? Something that really bothers me is the fact that, yes we put alot of focus on one country after we find out what terrible things are going on, but what about the other nations that are suffering the same but in silence? What about the people that never know that there can be hope for them? Maybe I think too deep, or care too much about people that live thousands of miles from where Im at but i'm hoping i'm not alone in thinking this way.

I thought many people watched Blood diamond, granted it was big hollywood movcie with a hot actor, it did cover some very relevant issues and this was one of the things that you saw in the movie. the Kid soldiers turned into murderers and killers, forced to become the tools for the war that they have no choice but to take part in. AND Africa is ridden with war, famine, poverty, AIDS, child slavery, genocide and Malaria yet we give more time to knowing about britney, nicole, lindsey and paris, and i don't mean you, i mean WE. as a society.
Above All - Do no harm
No I totally agree I think the Great Nations that can actually help need to help out neighboring countries. I mean yea its great that we are helping in Iraq but its not enough. But, Amy the problem is the world doesnt think like that. For instance right now the American people think that the war in Iraq right now is a waste of time. But it really isnt, we've liberated the Iraqi people and are now trying to restore them. Plus, its alot of work to basicaly restore a country. Its been like 7 years since the war started and were no where near done. The most efficient thing we can do is pray for them and pray that God will somehow help all of the suffering people.
before i assume please elaborate on what you mean by this comment
