Most people today are dealing with the affects of heartburn or chest pain. On top of this, symptoms like sour mouth, feeling full after not eating, and acid reflux can control a human to the point of no return. If you suffer from anyone of these symptoms, you may just have GERD. Gastresophagael reflux disease (GERD) affects many humans, and the sad part, most don't do anything about it. I was diagnosed with the disease two years ago and it has been a constant battle.
I'm 17 years old; most people with GERD and heartburn are adults or older than I am. My GERD has never been under control and I have one of the best GI doctor's in the country. I began to question if I would ever get better and if the doctors are really doing enough. I've been on about 15 different perscriptions, and the only one that has come close to helping is called Protonix. But of course I always run into the problem of side effects. It gets to a point of where I almost lose hope because the pain is so bad. I think it's time for doctors to realize that people are suffering severely from this disease and that more research needs to be done to help those who need it.
Scopes, capsule endoscopies, and diets just aren't enough for some of us. Who knows what could happen tomorrow. Doctors need to start getting on the ball and coming up with better ways to cure this disease, especially since so many people in the world are affected by it.

I'm sorry to hear about this. There are a lot of different little diseases that are just over looked becasue they're not as big as AIDS or Cancer, hence they don't get as much funding.
Tory13,
You write so well about a situation the affects almost a million teens. I would like to talk to you about writing for our newsletter, Reflux Digest. We also know of two doctors who are trying new treatments for teens who have already tried everything. Please get in touch.

Hi Beth. I would love to write for Reflux Digest. It is such a horrible thing that gets overlooked by so many. I'm glad someone has interest in it just like I do. Please give me more information
Hi Tori, I really felt sad about your condition and I know the feeling. I went through it for about 3 years and chronically - nearly a month. My research and experience told me that modern medicine has no 'CUR' for it. But there are some herbal combinations that you could make at home easily if you could get the ingredients. They have helped me with acid related headaches and bloating, etc. It has even helped a person who suffered from severe migraines. Take equal quantities of cumin and coriander seeds. Roast them . Grind them in a grinder. Take a spoonful of this mixture with a little sugar and cold water every morning and night. It should start showing its effect after 2 days. All the best. Sheila

After your blog, I still didn't learn what GERD was. I know the symptoms but not how it affects YOU and controls you, like you said.
