Office Spankings

A Fresno woman won a $500,000 lawsuit after an alleged spanking in a comraderie-building exercise. Sales teams were encouraged to compete, and the losers were made fun of, forced to eat baby food, wear diapers, or get spanked on the buttocks with an opposing company's metal-poled yard signs, according to court documents.

Lawyers for the company said Orlando and others took part in the exercises willingly. The practice stopped in 2004, when Orlando sued and another employee said she'd been hurt.

This seems to me like a deleted scene from "Office Space". What is going on in the offices today? I've heard of comraderie-building exercises...but spanking?! This seems more like a fraternity hazing than a company office exercise.

The office gets what they deserve. They should know better. Good thing they good sued and lost, so now they will learn their lesson

-"I am always right"

Competition can be induced by other ways, and spankings... can you say horny old people? I know I can (lol) i just did.

But I do think the company should have made sure that their employees didnt get hurt in these activities but rather had fun and competed. Or at least give insurance like school athletes and such. WE are encouraged to compete, and we spank each other's butts in joking manner, but at the end of the day, the best player wins, which happens to be what the business is trying to accomplish.

Basically, competition was induced the wrong way. Why not offer money, benefits, bragging rights?

Im sorry, but to be completely honest, that has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Why would ANYONE agree to such humiliation? The CEO of the company should think of the safety and dignity of his or her employees before agreeing to such a stupid "game."

I don't know what anybody else thinks, but I thought that company's punishment for losers was immature because it sounded like something high schoolers would do.
