As a freshman in high school I have to admit by the beginning of second semester I truly envied the upperclassman (juniors and senoirs). I remember wanting to be getting ready for prom and senior exams. I remember wanting to stress over college admissions and getting out of school earlier than every one else in school. I envied the most the social stability the upperclassman seemed to have.

But.....

Now I'm a junior. And at sixteen years old i look around and observe all the people I once wanted so badly to impress. Yeah well I hate to admit but for a while I became one of those teen girls. You know the ones that people write about. Those girls that have low self esteem and feels all alone. Except the difference was my parents always thought I was THE most SOCIAL teen in Arkansas. Their reason being I could easily slip from one crowd to another regaardless of the racial make up or majority gender of a group. I was playfully nicknamed the social butterfly. I could spend no longer than 5 minutes sometimes with certain crowds of people because I would grow uncomfortable. For a long time I didnt know why but now as I sit in the cafteria visiting with a friend here and there or sitting amongst a crowd of fellow "popualar" juniors,  I know  the difference between me and most of them.

Sixteen and seventeen year old girls still hold back grudges against a girl from third grade. Seventeen year old boys run up AND down the hallways. Boys of age to be considered young men cat call and grab at a girl as she walks by. girls playing a "bull Dog" and "Little Sally Walker" in the cafteteria. Two girls who have been best friends since diaper days fist fight over a guy dating them and six other girls.

I take this all in for the first time and look past the desinger clothes the girls in this area where and the handsome faces and bodies of the boys.

Soooo if u have yet to realize the differnce between me and them. It's simply this...

I had gotten over elementary in fifth grade and left the middle school mindset in eighth grade.

 And...

I shake my head. "God...I think my class needs to grow up."

Its true alot of teens are immature and hopefully soon they will get a clue and grow up. Not everyone matures at the same rate hopefully your peers will catch up soon.

High school was a lot of easy drama. lol Once you start college, heavier things will fall on you. And you know, I thought college kids would be a little bit better. Some are actually worse. They get involved with pregnancy, drugs and alcohol. And those things can ruin your whole college career. High school students need to grow up a little though. Too many unnecessary drama. Save it for college and real life. Good for you!

It doesn't get easier in the real world, I'm 19 and I work for Cooperate America, it's the same BS but different faces. It's easier if you just don't take anything to heart or not think about their stupidity. I once worked for a retail electronics store called Fry's and that was like high school part two. Everyone would spread rumors about, boys would follow me around and the harassment is 10 times worse, after 7 months I quit. So welcome to the never ending cycle of immaturity!

I am so glad that I am out of High School! But on the other hand, the same stuff follows you everywhere. I always felt like I was the old one. And I skipped over the whole college scene too. But even at work people will still be imature and stupid. It never goes away...

:)X I remember being in your exact situation. I was the same way; the 'socal butterfly' going from one group of friends to the other. And I realized my junior year that no one in my clas had changed a bit from 7th grade. I felt so out of place.

And you know what...?

I'm a sophomore in college now. It hasn't changed a bit. There's high school drama over boys and rumors being spread and the guys all act like there five, playing stupid pranks. Now, there's just alcohol involved. eh fun fun.
