Legalizing marijuana has been a huge discussion in so many forums, discussions and topics. Marijuana, and its derivatives, is used in varying degree and for numerous reasons by people throughout the world. Marijuana, however, is illegal in many parts of the world, including the US. The subject of whether or not it should be legalized, and/or decriminalized is raging in the US. Supporters for both the decriminalization and the legalization of marijuana are growing in number. The number of people in jail for crimes involving drug use is high, taxdollars used in the drug wars is also high. Other countries have successfully legalized and/or decriminalizing marijuana and other drugs but there is a diversity in laws and restrictions. The debate over the two terms used: legalization and decriminalization, also play a role in the marijuana debate. Should marijuana be legalized? Decriminalized? Or would these actions be harmful to society? Here we hope to debate the issues involved in the marijuana debate, presenting two sides of the subject. There are so many different topics about Marijuana to consider. There are pros and cons. Medical marijuana helps with people who are very sick or old and need help with there pain. With alcohol being a huge factor in accidents, crime, tempers and also causing so much problem but is legal. So, what do you think on this subject? I agree with some aspects of it but definitely feel it should have a age limit on it, just as alcohol does.
Should Marijuana be Legalized?

Like you said I think that the problem is with the wording. Legalize versus Decriminalize.....I think that if the US decriminalizes marijuana, they would actually have to legalize it. The reason I say that is, if it decriminalized but not legal the courts would not be able to necessarily fine, tax, or even send people to jail for it. However if it is still illegal it will increase the amount of companies that will test for it and have the right to legally fire one for using a drug that is permitted to be used. And in those cases if a person is fired for doing a non-criminal act, it begs the question if it falls under discrimination laws or unequal protection by law. I know there are some places like the Alcohol and Drug board that staff members are not allowed to use Tobacco for anything and they sign a waver stating they do not use. If they do use and its found out they have the legal right to fire them. I think it would be kind of like that.
But personally I think it should be a taxable, legal, and limit permitted based (like the Alcohol Blood Count thingy- I cant remember the real term) personal use item. Kind of like the laws with alcohol if that makes sense.
