College Tuition

College tuition...

Is it me or is college tuition rising every year now, I mean the inflation is overwhelming... compare now to back in the 1980's, what 2 years of college costs now, is what a full 4 years would have cost in the 1980's!!!

According to CNN Money... "Even though sticker prices for a college education keeps going up, that doesn't mean every student and parent are on the hook for full fare. In 2002-03, nearly half of all undergraduates received some grant aid – money that never needs to be repaid. And about 60 percent of undergrads received financial aid in some form, including grants, loans and work study, according to the College Board."

Yea, Yea, Yea, BECAUSE WITH OUT THE FINANCIAL HELP WE WOULD BE IN DEBT!!! Hmm, the least we can do is try our best in school and keeping going for those scholarships!!! I am, believe me, it's not such a easy job!!!

I completly agree. The cost of tuition is ridiculous. Even if the Government does help and yeah, there are some private scholarships available, so what? Depending on the college some of these barely begin to cover the cost of attending certain colleges. Something needs to be done.

Yes, something does need to be done, and more than just FASFA!

your right, I like to see a presidential administration deal with this problem. lack of attention got us into our current circumstances with oil, and so it will be the same for tuition. Before long, students will be graduating with so much debt, loan interests will be astronomical, then no one will be able to afford loans, and so on, and son. it's domino effect.

I would like to see the presidential administration do something too!!!

What would you like to see them do?

I agree with the costs, it's getting out of control. I'm 23 and on my own and anything short of taking out thousands of dollars in loans means that I can't finish college. Well guess what, I am not in a position to take out loans right now so I'm going to community college one class at a time every few months.

Thanks! (for your response)
Yes, prices are insane! I had to turn down EXCELLANT colleges because I just couldn't afford it. Now I'm hoping for some good scholarships, but they aren't the easiest to get!

No, scholarships aren't easy to get. I've been applying for everything I can find for the last few years and I haven't received anything. Unfortunaly, the longer you are out of high school and in college, the less likely it seems that you will get selected for a scholarship.

Yeah, for education to be as important as it is, the government sure makes it a pain in the neck to be able to afford college. Education should be available for anyone who wants it. It's not fair for the people who really want to go to college but simply can't afford to.

I agree jesdaniod!

Especially for those of us coming to school from out of state, we have to pay about twice the amount that in-staters do... or even at some schools, three times the amount. It's really frustrating!

The only way that I got some of my college paid off was going to college for free when I was in high school. It didn't get me much, but at least a years worth of college was done [worth about 26grand at my school, everything put together] for free.
