There is a ton of wonderful propaganda out there to get our butts in the booth and vote and they colletively tell us to let your voice be heard and vote!. Well, how the heck am I letting my voice be heard if I walk into a booth, vote in secrecy for my candidate, and go home to a six pack and go about whining to my dog (the only one who listens, objectively anyway) about everything thats wrong in this country? On top of that, most people aren't voting based on any real research. They're voting for a party, a friendly face, an eloquent speaker, or anything else that catches their eye. That is everything but a qualified resume. At best, some people find a candidate that speaks on an issue, ONE ISSUE, close to their heart and they vote for them all the way not thinking about the many more relevant issues at hand. Hardly anyone takes the time to get to know the candidates. Honestly, ask anyone why they voted for GW and theyll tell you in one way or another its cause he sticks to his word. Ask again why they didnt vote for Kerry, it's because he's a flip flopper. Wow! We put so much stock in our right to vote yet we dont take five minutes out of our lives to take a real look at the candidates and the issues of today in order to make an educated vote. Were so busy, or too lazy, or perhaps too busy being lazy, we'd rather let FOX or CNN do the thinking for us. Unbelievable! Voting is the most important duty of any citizen yet only a small number of the population can say they do that duty responsibly. I for one intend to change my bad habits. My first stop will be the House of Representatives. Here you can find your Rep by typing in your zip code. By the way, whats your Reps name? Uhhhhh, This might be a good time to find out. Send them letters often about how you feel. You can also look up issues on the floor, search for a bill or law, and find issues your Rep has spoken on. But thats just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Websites like Project Vote Smart are bi-partizan information banks geared towards making you a smarter voter, go figure. And don't forget that change starts at home. Look up your city's website (Here's Mine) and find out what's going on at town hall. Tell them how you feel about it. Get to know our History. History. Real History. questionable history, Michael Jackson's Face History. Get to know the parties that are running (ruining) things - GOP, DEMS, a party of a different color. Whatever you do, just get educated before you waste your vote!!!! Oh, and before I forget, the number one most important thing any responsible sitizen should do is GET TO KNOW OUR CONSTITUTION. Our kids are dying for it!

good for them way to go
Thank you for posting this. This is exactly how I feel, but have trouble saying. I am planning to do some hardcore research this weekend on voting.
