The people of Darfur, Sudan are suffering and have been sufferinig a genocide. If this was happening here people would step up, take action, and rage against the radical groups trying to take control. The "Janjaweed" translated to "The Devil Rides on Horseback" is the radical group storming into cities-burning thier homes, killing innocent human beings, and kidnaping women to take them to work in thier camps and have to suffer the injustice of rape.
I read one story of a woman who was working in the field with her baby on her back and her two boys by her side when all of sudden she heard a swarm of helicopters, a sound she described like thunder. The helicopters started shooting at her, she tried to run and hide but they shot her two boys and her baby on her back.
This story sent chills through me, i couldn't belive that this could be happening and so much more was happening that we haven't chosen to look at or pay attention because as U.S. Citizens we have this mentality that if it isnt in our backyard or effecting us then why should we care. If it doesn't disrupt my routine then "Oh well." I believe our generation needs to stand up, in every generation there is something that is worth fighting for-something to make you fight for your freedom. And i belive Darfur is this fight.

You are definitely taking the right first step by making people aware. Beyond that, you could start by contacting your local representative and see if there is anything that you could do to further help these people. It is truly a tragedy that humans are subjected to such lives. This story reminds me of the movie "Charlie Wilson's War". If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
