So what is Yahoo up to lately? Beyond helping throw Chinese journalists in prison, Yahoo is also banned the word "Allah" from e-mail handles. It was alongside other words like "raghead" and "nazi". Meanwhile, words like "God" "Jesus" and "Priest" were allowed.
It came up when Ed Callahan tried to regist an e-mail accoutn with his name in it. Apparently his name was offensive. But offensive no longer.
Yahoo has unbanned "Allah" now. But what drove them to ban the word in the first place? I understand racial slurs and bad words, but banning "Allah?" Come on.
I agree with Ed Callahan:
"On one level this is just silliness. But we have a war on terrorism and it's migrating to be a war on Muslims - this just shows the confusion there is between the two and how pervasive this is."
Yahoo claims it was a glitch. Yeah, right.

If God is allowed then Allah should be allowed too.
THIS IS A BREACH OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.
I really wish the people would read the entire article...
"Yahoo claims it was a glitch" What a lame excuse from Yahoo!!! Seriously, I don't know what yahoo is afraid of. Did they think the word "Allah" was gonna offend anyone? I don't think so.
Recently, while brousing a Yahoo! message board, I encountered a message from a person using "outrigger_n1gger" as a Yahoo! ID. You may find that message at:
http://finance.messages.yahoo.com/bbs?.mm=FN&board=1601151249&tid=prtn&sid=1601151249&action=m&mid=56737
On March 9, 2006, I filed a complaint with Yahoo!, explaining that the use of a racial slur in a Yahoo! ID offended me.
Then, I checked to see how many other people were allowed to use the term "n1gger" in a Yahoo! ID. Here are the results of that search:
http://members.yahoo.com/interests?.oc=t&.sb=0&.id=n1gger&.fn=&.ln=&.em=&.kw=&.g=0&.ar=0&.st=0&.lo=
I was shocked to find that Yahoo! allows more than 90 people to use "n1gger" as part of an ID, including such violent and hateful language as "n1gger beater", "n1gger hunting season88", and "n1ggers love trees".
I warned Yahoo! that if, by March 16, 2006, I did not receive a response describing exactly what action was taken to stop the use of "outrigger_n1gger" as a Yahoo! ID, I would contact the press and advocates of civil rights. If you would like to file a complaint, you may e-mail Yahoo! at: boards-abuse@cc.yahoo-inc.com
What sucks is that yahoo enjoys a vertual monopoly on certain services, so boycotting them would be almost impossible. What one should do is to find the names of the people who run yahoo. Then we can see how to twhart those people in their future actions against humanity.
