Republicans and Democrats each claim to be 'pro-life'. If this is true why does one believe in the death penalty and the other in abortion? People try to tell me that the topics are unrelated, but I believe that they are. It is hypocritical to claim to be pro-life when you believe it is just to kill a man. It is also contradictory to state that you think killing unborn children is fine and yet still believe yourself to be pro-life. You can be pro-life. I consider myself pro-life. As a more liberal adolescent i have taken the role of anti-death penalty while also not fully supporting abortion. I would not personally have an abortion, but I do believe that a woman should have the choice. What do you consider yourself to be? And do you think the issues are related?

As far as the abortion issue, I think technically either side can describe themselves as "pro-life"; just one side looks to the life of the mother and the other - the life of the fetus.
No one wants to give people the choice of having an abortion just to see more death.

I had a friend who was anti-abortion, anti-death penalty, and against war of any kind. I think that's the only way you can be truly pro-life.
I never really believed that she could be 100% against killing people. I asked her what she would do if she was locked in a room with her children, someone who was trying to kill her children, and a gun. Wouldn't she protect her children and mortally wound the killer? She couldn't answer me. But, granted, its not to think that all killing is wrong, even when it isn't entirely practical.
Common sense is as rare as genius. ~Emerson
That is something to consider.
I suppose it is a different situation for a person who has experienced the need for abortion or been the Victim of murder.
I suppose we won't ever truly know if we are pro-life until we have lived it.
The term "pro-life" always applies to abortion, but I see why people use the term for death penalty, etc.
I think abortion should be the female's choice, but the choice should be validated with at least one professional (no quacks allowed, hehe).
I am personally against abortion, but I am even more against government involvement in this issue.
As far as the death penalty is concerned, it is voted on at the state level. The few states that enforce it do so because the state's people voted for it. What is wrong with that?
Morality and ethics don't mix well with politics, do they?
The literal translation of the 6th commandment is "Thou shalt not murder". This is quite different from "Thou shalt not kill". But abortion and death penalty are both viewed by many as murder.
You really made me think with this one.
and i agree that the government should not be involved.
