I will be 18 by the time the presidential election comes around and I wouldn't know who to vote for if the election was today. Obama, Cinton, McCain? Clinton appears done, and John McCain looks like a great Republican challenger for whichever Democrat does win the nominee. McCain and both Deomcratic nominees have their strong views and things I agree and disagree with but I don't know if I want any of the three running the country for the next four years.
This is why I dislike the two party system. If Independents (or any other small party) truly had a chance (and they don't because of backing). I wish that another party would come in and make this a more interesting election where three or more candidates would truly have a chance instead of just being "vote stealers" from the Democrats and the Republicans. This has been a problem for a long time, but we as Americans are the only people to blame because we allow two views to run our country. We don't give any other parties the power to influence what happens in our country; instead we just tend to vote for a third party candidate if we disagree with the views of both the leading Republican and Democratic nominee.

I've hated the two-party system for a long time. I agree with everything you said, but my main problem with it is the lack of representational government. There's a large amount of our country whos not a republican or a democrat, yet that isn't reflected by Congress. We have TWO independent senators, while more Americans are registered independent than republican or democratic!
Try getting rid of the electoral college...That'd help.
It's an inside joke thing...
Until the American public get tired of the Republican & Democratic wealthy dominating the Presidential race it will always be the same. Unfortunately the only way we will ever see a Independent candidate compete is if he himself is extremely rich and probably (like the Dem & Rep) out of touch with the general population.
I'm most definitely sick and tired with the two party system and the wealthy Republican and Democratic parties ... I absolutely hate the fact that most people vote based on the "party" instead of the actual views that they hold -- which is a majority since people mainly make uninformed votes and stick with the party that they are are apart of. I bet that the Independent candidates seriously have a lot more to say than what the press gives them (which is very little).
I just wish more people were as tired as I am.
Sadly allot of people vote for Democrat or Republican because they were born into it. I was born a Democrat but I like to listen to the view points and the opinions of the candidates then make a decision. Which by the way hasn't worked for me this time. I am really dissappointed with the candidates at hand. I really wish someone could give me a good reason the sway one way or the other. Because so far the candidates have not!
I am a devotee to the third, or rather independent party interest. Please check out my bio in my profile, then understand, that when I say i am in absolute favor of Obama, it has nothing to do with an alliance to a particular ideology except for that of humanism.
Amen brother. I'm a libertarian, and if enough people really researched the libertarian party, or the reform party, or the green party or a socialist party, there would probably be as many people who's views are similar to each those party platforms as there are those who are in line with Republican or Democrat platforms. Unfortunately, the vote against ideology hampers this, and the one thing that the Democrats and Republicans can agree on is that they don't want anymore competition.
