My name is Evan Taylor and, I would like to speak about an issue very close to my heart. The State of Black Students. Where we are, Where we want to be, and how we are going to get there. I have a short speech and then, I am going to direct the attention to my panel and they will speak. I would like to open with a quote from Nelson Mandela; "No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. If [people] can learn to hate they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar famous African – American Basketball Star said; “If they took the idea that they could escape poverty through education, I think it would make a more basic and long-lasting change in the way things happen. What we need are positive, realistic goals and the willingness to work. Hard work and practical goals." Explaining the importance of education and the way we can escape the situations we fear, by getting educated. I believe that we always are trying to find shortcuts out of our feared situations in life. We need to be able to get an education so, that we can support and inform future generations. The youth of today are the adults of tomorrow. If the youth are behind then, our future generations will be even, further behind.
Ralph Abernathy famous Civil Rights Activist said, "I don't know what the future may hold, but I know who holds the future." We as the youth hold the future and we as a community will determine that future. And if we don’t start preparing for the future now, when will we? If our own community doesn’t support and rely on each other how can we expect anyone else to support us in the future.
John Burroughs famous American naturalist said, "For anything worth having one must pay the price; and the price is always work, patience, love, self-sacrifice—no paper currency, no promises to pay, but the gold of real service." We as the youth need to pay the price for our future generations as, our ancestors paid the price during slavery for us. The effort needs to continue, we are not in the clear yet because, there is still so much for us to accomplish.
Last but not least, Ella Fitzgerald famous African American singer said, "Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong." Meaning reach for the sky, don’t be afraid and in the community instead of bringing down those that are trying to make it, lift them up so that we as a community can succeed. We should all intend to reach our ultimate goals, just don’t forget where you came from and who helped you get there.

Nice blog.
I have a suggestion, though. Hold on to a couple of these. Post them later. It makes other bloggers angry when their posts are beaten off the Recent blogs list by someone on a posting binge. One post a day is a good rule of thumb. Maybe two, but not all in a row like this.
