Something has been brought to my attention, and I can't sit around much longer and not say anything.
Our nation has been split apart by two lifestyles: Christianity and homosexuality.
Whether we like it or not, we have to admit it. These two views oppose each other on every side, and it is unthinkable that they will ever get along. Christians say homosexuals should go to hell, and homosexual accuse Christians of being close-minded (I must say, the homosexuals have it right). We Christians think that God only condemns the people who have not accepted his forgiveness while homosexuals say that Christians are hypocritical (again, the Christians are very wrong). The church ignores homosexuality as an issue that needs to be dealt with, and homosexuals think that Christians mostly ridicule and hate homosexuals (so far: Homosexuals - 3, Christians - zip!).
The problem with this "war" is that neither side will admit they are wrong. The biggest problem, honestly, is that Christians are (nine times out of ten) too set in their ways in how they believe God intended the world to be that they ignore the issues of grace and hypocrisy and only point at others for being the problem. Christians are (nine times out of ten) too focused on, as the Bible says, "speck of sawdust in [our] brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in [our] own eye."
I'm telling you, as a Christian: Christians get it wrong a lot. We are not entirely at fault, but we do fall short of our glorious calling to Christ. The problem with us not being entirely at fault is that neither side are willing to admit they are wrong.
If I could, I would apologize to every gay or lesbian for how they have been treated by the Christian community. I wish I could erase everything that has been said to homosexuals and start on a clean slate, but I can't. Hopefully, I will be able to make progress here.
Because Christians have gotten it wrong before, people are hesitant to give Christianity a second chance. The world sees how this particular Christian treats people and don't pay attention to that Christian who actually follows what God has called us to.
The next blogs will be how Christianity views homosexuality, more importantly, what the Bible says about it - honestly, truly says about it. Christians put so many sick spins on their interpretations of the Bible that the Bible ends up becoming a book that people pick and choose which sections to believe, taking away verses and adding in connotations that were not meant to be there.
But, here is the ultimate problem (I seem to have a lot of problems with this goal!): we all (Christians and homosexuals) must look at this with an open mind. We both must be willing to admit that we are both wrong and be concerned about our part in the solution alone; we can't be worried if the other side isn't doing their part - we can only control OUR actions.
It is with that statement that I begin my journey.

"Because Christians have gotten it wrong before, people are hesitant to give Christianity a second chance."
It is really difficult to give someone another chance after you've been repeatedly hurt by them or by the group they represent.

I completely understand and homosexuals have every right to turn away from Christianity as an option for faith. But I ask you to please read the next blogs with open minds.
I look forward to them.

That was an honest view and a definite improvement from your previous blogs. Nice job with this one!

That's such an encouragement! I think I'm getting the hang on "progressive"! :) thanks
This is an issue I've spent a great deal of time searching for answers to, talking about, reading the Bible about, and so on. It'll be interesting to see what your take will be.
"Happiness only real when shared".
You have a good point. When I saw the blog I was like here we go again another rant about how gay people should "burn". I am glad that is not the case. I used to be christian but I seperated from that religion because at chruch all they would preach about was going to hell if you do this and that. I feel happy not being in a religious group. And I wasn't downing christians. I believe people should worship who ever they worship/ or don't worship and stop fighting with each other.
But sadly this won't happen. Really good blog though I enjoyed reading it.

Love comments? I do too!
You can still be Christian without being a member of a denomination, or without going to church.
Though I do both :-)
