I'm in school for Court Reporting and I hear a lot of depositions and trials (true cases and real transcripts) about these men and women who murder, rape, steal, and whatever else.
There was this one case in particular that just shocked me. A doctor named Patrick was married and a wife who loved him dearly, things went great in the beginning, until he started distancing himself from her. He would only talk to her when he was angry (out comes the scary side of Dr. Patrick) or when he wanted to describe to ehr what he would do to people who crossed him in the wrong way.
He would tell her how he would gouge out their eyes, stick pins under their finger nails, and do other things that are just disturbing! She would beg him to stop and a lot of the times had to run out of the room.
Eventually she decided that having a baby would bring them together. She had a baby boy Steven. this didn't seem to solve anything. In fact, one day she came running to her screaming baby and found that his arm was completely blue. It was obvious who had done this and she just rubbed her babies arm until it gained color back and had stopped crying.
Another time, she was swimming and an aligator came dangerously close. Patrick warned her to swim to shore and told her why. But instead of helping his wife he took out his camera and started snapping pictures of her in a panic mode, and didn't think anymore of it. He was prosecuted, I don't remember what he recieved though.
And on the other hand there is this case called the Dingo case. It took place in Australia, and one day this family had a get together in their backyard. There were lots of friends and family there that day.
There was a dingo that came around and seemed pretty friendly. They would feed him all the time. On the night of their get together, Mrs, Chamberlin, who was having the get together, went to check on her baby boy, only to find his clothes. Hardly a tear. She was arrested and her husband was not. She was pregnant at the time.
The investigation went so far as to take a slab of meat wrap it up and hide it. They took a dingo and placed him in the same room as the meat and when they came back there was the wrappings, not a single tear! Of course it was obviously the dingo that had taken her baby.
But on the flip side of things she was prosecuted to a certain amount of years in prison for the murder of her baby, and her husband didn't even get tried!!!! There's more to the case, but this is the gist of it..
I do believe that people deserve the punishment they get, but at the same time, some people who are prosecuted don't deserve it! Like this traumatized mother. What is justice truly? Is it really just?
I also wonder what goes through the minds of these "psycho-killers!?" They can't be thinking much of anything, because there would be a conflict of morals. Right??

Holy crap, this Dr. Patrick was one sick puppy.
And the Dingo case...pretty shocking as well.
I still wonder how/why people get to be this way. Pretty scary to think any of your friends could become one of these monsters.
