Like American Idol needs anything to make people watch it. I think that Michael is doing it more for his imagine than anything else. He has not been depicted well in the media in the last few years. I think this would actually hurt AI ratings.
Mr. Jackson has gotten away with some pretty bad things being the person that he is. If any normal person were to dangle a child from a balcony that baby would be in CPS's custody faster than he could have checked out of that hotel. A normal person never would have beaten those child molestation charges either. He doesn't even look like a Jackson anymore. He has had so many surgeries.
Mr. Simplson is another example of buying your way out of trouble. He has all but admitted to killing Nicole and her lover. Innocent of crimminal charges and guilty of civil charges, that makes not sense. I remember when that verdict came out, the world stopped while it was read. I could not beleive it, Innocent.
It just goes to show you that money can buy you out of trouble. In Michael Jackson's case I think he is going on American Idol to try and "safe some face". (Not that he has much left after the surgeries.) :)

Now think about this. Who really cares if Jackson is on there. If people get in such an uproar about it, maybe they should step back and realize "Holy hell....I'm living my life according to crap on tv." People like Jackson don't rule the world, any other celebs dont rule the world either. If you have such an issue with it, then...change the channel, you've got the power. Who cares if Jackson is trying to reclaim fame? He was a fantastic singer and really took the world by storm with Thriller, yet, you're feeding into this "Omg...he did such and such, now we must hate him." Has it ever occured to you that he might be, just might be, trying to help the judges? Considering, he had this yah knw, big ole singing career.
And if that sounds mean, wasn't intended too.
Let Jackson be on American Idol as long as he wants. He is only trying to regain fame and make up for all the bad publicity he has received over the years. If you just ignore the fact that he is there, then you are not giving in to what he wants. If you make a big fuss about, then the media wants to to the same thing, thus giving Jackson what he wnats. Let it pass.
Jackson is appearing on American Idol because he was a music icon. His appearance shouldn't have anything to do with an argument that he doesn't belong on American Idol.
Just the name 'American Idol' makes you think of something people want to look up to and be like. Yes, Michael Jackson had an awesome singing career....over 20 years ago.
Since then he has done nothing worth emmulating and I think that is where Jewels is coming from.
Jackson is on american idol to publize himself as a music legend. i don't think its neccesarily to gain good publicity after his court cases because it doesn't really help.
