The title says it all; and I want you to know that most of the stats that they keep putting out are not true. Most of the African Americans I know are NOT voting for Obama because he looks like them. Then again most of the African Americans that I know are not college educated and automatically fall into the I'm-voting-for-Hillary-cuz-she's-a-Clinton category. Is that sad? To vote for someone because of her last name or to not vote for someone because they look like you?
I was IMing a family member yesterday and I noticed that her personal page had a lot of Hillary Clinton campaign flyers. I joked at first; typing her something like, "Oh you're not joining the Obama movement ?", and " Please tell me you're not voting for Hillary. You're in college, you know better!" What she typed back really surprised me. She said something like, "Why would I vote for Obama? The only reason people are is because he's black and they're black" That really got to me. At first I have to admit, I didn't want to vote for Obama because he was black. No, it's not because I don't have faith in my own people; but because if I did vote for him people would just assume that I did because he was black. It never occured to me that other people thought the same thing.
Can people please just research the candidates and find the one that best suites their own personal beliefs? And not just the one that looks like them? I've read all of Obama's books and speeches and I plan on starting Hillary's this week. There's no law that says you HAVE to go by when they say on CNN and not research the candidates yourself. Yes it feels great to see someone that looks like you up there on that podium, telling the world that they want to run for president and feeling that they could really win. But all of that deos no good when you have no idea what they support or don't support or what they want to do to make life better for you and every other american.
And another thing: this democratic he said/she said fight is really starting to get on my nerves. Here we are; presented with an opportunity that we probably won't have again for atleast another twenty years. For the first time in history a man of minority descent actually has about a 33% chance of winning the presidency and a woman has the same. And all we can think about is the next thing that they can say about each other to piss the other off. It's a shame; America really needs to grow up before we lose all of our money to the War in Iraq and gas.

Although I am for Hillary it is not because she is a women and she is white. I am not voting for Obama because of his policies and speeches not because he is black. Although I can't totally relate I hope you see where I am coming from.
I have noticed something among high school students especially or people who don't research candidates. They will not know anything they are wanting to change yet they will randomly decide they like a candidate. I agree read the policies and what they plan on doing. many people will blindly choose someone because the way they talk or look and that is how Bush got in the white house. I am actually still trying to figure that out. lol.
