Adopting Outside of the Box

Adoption outside the box? What does she mean? Adoption  rules and regulations have changed over the years. And a lot of it is for the good, like open adoption. Also, the "traditional family" is not the only people that are allowed to adopt children. No longer can only a married woman and man be the only ones who can adopt. Now homosexual couples are allowed to adopt and so can single men and women. I think this is great. There are so many children waiting for families and I don't think it should matter whether a couple wanting to adopt are homosexual, hetrosexual, or a single parent. I used to watch Adoption Stories all the time on the Discovery Health Channel and a single lady adopted a child from overseas. It was so great the way she loved and nurtured her child. There was a homosexual, single man who adopted a preteen boy. They were so happy and bonded well together. There were two homosexual male couples who adopted also. One adopted a newborn baby boy in an open adoption with his birth mother. His birth mother died in his sleep one night. They said their son would always know how much she loved him. And the other couple adopted a preteen girl with emotional problems. All of  them were good parents, and I would like to think they still are. I know some disagree that homosexual couples should adopt,  but my personal opinion is that if they will be good parents to a child or children, homosexual, hetrosexual, or single, it should not matter.

Please do not take what I am saying to mean that I think there should be rules and guidelines for potential adoptive families. I do believe that criminals (especially child molestors and pedophiles) should not be allowed to adopt. Also, I think that there should be income requirements, housing space requirements, just to show they can provide for the child they may adopt I just don't think sexual orientation should be in the way  of a loving couple adoption or a single person should not be allowed to adopt just because they are single.
