The best way to get the information you need is to pick up a good book on Funerals.
This happened to me when I was in High School. I picked up the book "The Loved One" by Evelyn Waugh. 32 Years Later I became a Funeral Director and began helping others with their Family Funerals and Lower Funeral Costs. More information on Evelyn is here at progressive U:

The reason a Young Person should think about Family Funerals and Funeral Cost are many.
1. Death Happens: There has been a slew of shootings on the News. This is covered on progressive U here:

2. Death happens suddenly. (Yes Sudden Death is more than a playoff)
Virginia Tech, NIU, etc. We all know the list. Please do not be caught short when the grim reaper shows up .
3. Prepare The preparation part is not too difficult. Lower your funeral cost, have a low cost funeral.
Speak up in your family when it comes time for a funeral and lower funeral expenses and funeral cost..
It is quite simple really....You can save up to 1000 USD on each of your family's funerals.
Most people's knowledge about funerals comes from their experience and what they have seen on TV.
This is not enough information to help you lower your funeral cost.
You do not have to sacrifice dignity and honor.
You need just a few tips and some insider information.
This is clearly a situation where less is more.
This seems easy. It is not.
This process requires you to do something everyone has trouble with:
Accept the reality of Death and Dying and be able to think about this subject.

Out of curiosity why did you only mention shooting instead of deaths by natural causes such as heart attacks which are more sudden and more likely for Americans than to be involved in a shooting?

Shootings are happening "All the time" and almost every day there is news coverage.
My goal is to help people lower the cost and the stress of family funerals or any funeral they are involved with.
I have a blog post planned for the causes of death....but am taking time with it.
