I am a 18 year old African-American, I am currently in a youth Detention center in South GA. I am here for 2 counts of Burglary, theif by reciving stolen property and possesion of firearms. I have been incarcerated since July 2005, I will be released on July 15, 2010 unless I get accepted into a college and get a scholarship. I have been through so many things in my life that I Have cried 3 years straight. I let my "so called friends" bust me up to do stupid things that caused me my "freedom". But since I have been in this Detention center I have recieved my G.E.D, got 3 certifications in Vocational Classes. I am a current assistant/volenteer G.E.D instructor and a culinary Arts Assistant. My dream is to go to Le Cordon Bleu culinary Arts College in Atlanta. I want to be the Next Top Chef of America. So I ask you all Pelase to help me get this scholarship. I wish I was a rich person what came from this rich family, but I am Bold to say that I came from a Povertized family. We had and still have nothing. I hope for a better tomorrow, but that has been my dream for 18 years. My mother is a drug user, and my father is somewhere in America. I am here in this Detention center asking for a better tomorrow with the help of a friend like you. Determined? yes, for a better Tomorrow, for a better Life. Thank You and God Bless

This Blog really bring realization the the world and this time is real.
I didn't realize that someone could get out of incarceration with their entrance into a school with a scholarship. Although I can be empathetic to your previous circumstances, It sounds like you are doing the time for doing the crimes. If memory serves me right, most, if not all prisons and detention facilities in this country provide continuing education, what would make this scholarship special?

Yes they (juveniles) do get out on early release for getting their education.. This scholarship would give me the chance to show that I am doing things for myself and that I have developed into a intellegent intellectual. I wan't get charged for this one...it's mine.
Kentrez, thanks for information. Learn something new all the time!

they gave you 5 years!!! DAMN
Martha Stewart stole millions and she got 8and a half months
Correction... Martha Stewart was 'charged' with insider trading, not embezzelment (i.e. stealing), and that charge she was eventually aquitted of.
Actually, Martha went to jail for lying... try and find that one in the law book? If lying were a crime, then Bill Clinton would be rotting the rest of his days in jail. (let alone any other politician)

Yea Man, that's ia som BS... They tried me to the fullest.. Then on top of that, my supposed to be homeboys snitched on me so how about life....
to Stevo.....martha stewart lied to federal investigators about recieving information(insider trading), which led her to selling off large amounts of her stock.....
the selling of her stock led to the aquisition of millions of dollars, which was not siezed, in part to her plea deal.
the point is decieving someone for financial gain is stealing, and whether you break into someones home and steal, or you steal from the stock market. IT IS WRONG
This goes back to the lopsidedness of our judicial system. if a young black male steals, in his world, he is treated differently than if a rich white woman steals in her world.
all i'm sayin is STEALING IS STEALING
Mr. Warbanks,
I agree that there are many forms/types of stealing, perhaps we can add lying as stealing information. As to the justice system, when someone is aquitted, then they have been found not guilty, thereby Martha was not guilty of insider trading, thereby not stealing anyones money. If we want to get into a debate over technicalities, then I'd suggest you and I collaborate for one heck of a blog. till then, whether or not you do, or don't like the justice system, it is needed.

she stole....that is why she lied......
she just pleaded guilty to the lesser charge, so that there would not be a lengthy trial that would cost the federal government money.
in the justice system it is a proven practice to plead to the lesser offense to avoid a harsher penalty.
similar to settling a civil case out of court. usually the one who initiates the settlment does so, to avoid further scrutiny, or to avoid losing the case
That is true.. Very Much So.
